Diarrhoea & nausea symptoms

Hi all,

My partner has received a positive result , & I am awaiting mine.

He has the full flu type symptoms .. I have too but with terrible stomach cramps, diarrhoea and nausea. If I also test positive .. I will be on day 7 today and today has been the most achy, tired and sickly I have felt.

Has anyone else had these symptoms too?

Thanks

Everyone I know who has tested positive has had the gastric symptoms.

Southernsoftie76 · 16/09/2020 17:04

Email from school said children who have D&V should be tested for Covid, easier said than done though eh. There seems to be a huge range of varied symptoms, it’s been said on here that a runny nose and sore throat aren’t symptoms when in fact they are. I hope you and your partner recover quickly and fully.

Aw Thankyou very much.. did the test on Monday so results should be in soon lol! Even though I feel rubbish I hope this is the extent of it.

Xx

That's really good you know where you stand with a test result now, but just treat it like any other illness with rest, vitamins and lots of fluids and I'm sure you'll be fine.

How are you feeling on day 8? Xx

LindaEllen · 17/09/2020 10:53

Hey :). Me and my partner have both had it. He had an upset stomach whereas I didn't, but my symptoms were milder in general.

A total of 32 staff at his place of work tested positive, and many of those also had similar symptoms - so yes, they're definitely linked!

whatisforteamum · 17/09/2020 13:20

Interesting I have felt drained of energy stomach cramps and diorreah I didn't think it could be covid.I also have weird itchy lumps on my arms!

GreatMindsThinkAlike · 17/09/2020 13:25

@whatisforteamum I also have stomach cramps, diorrhea, lack of energy. But no cough or any respiratory symptoms. I wonder if there's also a tummy bug going around.

whatisforteamum · 17/09/2020 14:26

Probably. There normally is when the kids go back.Luckily I haven't felt like this in absolutely ages.Hope you feel better soon.😀

Ontopofthesunset · 17/09/2020 14:34

Hives are a symptom of COVID too so you may well have it.

GreatMindsThinkAlike · 17/09/2020 14:56

Thank you @whatisforteamum Hope you feel better soon too x

whatisforteamum · 17/09/2020 15:41

Oh shit are they?I wondered if it was an allergy.I had raised lumps last week that went then new ones a headache now stomach cramps bad tum and general weakness.

Tartan333 · 17/09/2020 15:48

I had very sudden onset of strong stomach cramps on Monday night with 2 bouts of diarrhoea, since then I have had mild nausea, sore scratchy throat, blocked up nose and mild fatigue. I read that diarrhoea is a rare symptom of covid but anecdotally seems quite common?

perfectpanda · 17/09/2020 15:51

My kid just tested negative with diarrhoea / cramps / fever. So may well be stomach bug going around.

Tensun15 · 17/09/2020 20:08

@GreatMindsThinkAlike .. today I felt abit more energy this morning but totally dipped this afternoon. Very weak again, headache, body aches etc.

I had glandular fever 2 years ago and since then I can suffer with chronic fatigue flare ups now & then. Today I have felt like that. It just floors me .. I've not eaten for a few days aswel due to the diarrhoea and cramps. So now I have to get goodness into me like you say.. vitamins, rest and need to up my water.x getting dehydrated makes me ache more.

I have no taste or smell , no appetite so I that doesn't help xx

@LindaEllen hope you are both well and over it all now. When did you get it.. and how long did it last?

Wondering how long I've got now ha. I started with the awful stomach etc. The NHS track & trace person rang me following my positive test result and said how diarrhoea and nausea is now very common in covid x

lovelemoncurd · 17/09/2020 20:13

Since catching COVID in March I only got my energy levels back in August so be prepared that that symptom can last.

whatisforteamum · 17/09/2020 20:16

Hope you feel better soon Tensun.

Tensun15 · 17/09/2020 20:22

@lovelemoncurd 🙈 oh god I just know it's going to be like after I had glandular fever.. just have to take it step by step.

We came down with it in April. The main symptoms lasted just over a week for both of us, but there have been lasting effects. We get out of breath so easily now, although I do think that's gradually improving. We've had fatigue since we were unwell. I find myself waking up at 11am and wanting to go to bed at 9am. Luckily I work from home so I can deal with this. My partner is the same but he's had to go back to work as his sick pay ran out - he works as a funeral director so it's a fairly full on day for him unfortunately.

I think everyone is so different that there's no point in comparing. My 80yo grandad almost died, he was in hospital with it for a few weeks - yet bizarrely, he's actually made a fuller recovery than my partner and I, and has got back to normal (or as normal as you can right now) much quicker.

Just take care of yourself and take each day as it comes. Rest, drink plenty of water, and keep an eye on your breathing. You will almost certainly be absolutely fine :) :).
