I got my test results back this morning and now I can't continue pretending it's just a bad cold.
I have a cough that seems to be getting worse and feel tired and achy. I know it's silly but ever since my results came back I am worried about ending up in hospital or dying.
I'm 28 with no other health conditions. I have 2 young children who both seem fine. Someone tell me I'm going to be ok.

Do not become a hypercondriac, you don’t need a bloody oxygen monitor. If you can’t breathe, call an ambulance
Buying a pulse oximeter doesn't make you a hyperchondriac. It Is actually a sensible, inexpensive piece of kit to have. A pulse oximeter is a brilliant idea because it will give you reassurance that, in most cases, even if you become breathless, your oxygen saturation levels won't have fallen. Conversely, if sats do fall, you know to seek help.

There is no point in wasting the time of paramedics if you become breathless and oxygen levels are stable. That's the whole point of the oximeter. No point putting unnecessary strain on hospitals.[/quote]
Some people with Covid have no breathlessnesss but can have dangerously low sats. It has been well reported and is one of the unusual things about the illness. An oxygen monitor is a very good idea because of this and some doctors are sending patients home with one when discharged from hospital

I could have written your post. It's the middle of the night and I can't sleep. But I feel ok really.
I'm actually glad of the delay getting a test. If I'd known I was positive earlier I'd have panicked when my symptoms were worse than they are now. As it was I didn't really think I had it, as my cough was phlegmy.

How do you feel now OP?

CornishGiant · 17/09/2020 20:17

Feel a bit better today now the panic has eased off a bit. Really tired though and my youngest DS is now starting to look a bit snotty.

Pleased you’re feeling a little better. I’m sure it won’t trouble your kids. A friend’s 3 yo has just had it and it was no worse than a mild cold. They have been sleeping a bit more than usual which is a plus!
