Just that really, I'm past knowing what is the right course of action in most scenarios, but my gut feels it's a trifle off.

Be interested to hear the thoughts of those in University settings?

Well, Cambridge isn’t typical of university settings as all undergraduate students are required to live in their college. In most unis many will live out. They are also required to leave college accommodation in the holidays whereas in most unis they can be there all year round.

Halls are often catered, not all are en suite and kitchen facilities are shared.

Policy sounds sensible to me at first glance.

However, I do think there should be provision to help any student who doesn’t have family support with the cost of moving out. It does say that in exceptional circumstances the college will assist with finding accommodation for these students.

I think it's completely wrong headed.

I had been questioning the wisdom of unis insisting students fork out for campus accommodation when their lectures will be delivered online anyway, because it will mean so many young people travelling across the country, potentially taking the virus with them.

When the government said students should stay on campus in the event of an outbreak or lockdown I then thought maybe it was sensible after all - it's safer if they are only mixing with other young people and not living at home with older relatives.

This is the worst of both worlds.
