Nurseries don’t seem affected in my area?!

My DD’s been back at nursery since June, as have our many friends in 15 different nurseries dotted around our town. We are in a higher case area in Yorkshire. Yet, not one of us has yet been impacted by Covid? No cases, no isolating, no requests to test etc.. I don’t understand why the minute the schools have gone back, it’s chaos yet nurseries where children put everything in their mouths & slobber on each other, all has been perfectly calm?!

I’m sure maybe it’ll change as we head into winter but it just seems so odd! The nursery workers haven’t much complained either.. they are at probably higher risk than teachers yet I’ve not heard much complaining..

My DD caught a cold, snotty, slight cough to clear her throat now & again and nursery haven’t batted an eyelid. Happy for her to be in. We only have to keep her off for a fever, bad cough or taste/smell.. schools seem to be sending kids home if they so much as sneeze!

I think there is a nasty cold now circulating that perhaps wasn’t during the summer. My eldest has been in some form of childcare since June. No testing, no illness, no bubbles bursting. She got the cold like everyone else in early September but fortunately not Covid symptoms.

Our schools here aren't sending kids home for sneezes - far from it! There's a nasty cold doing the rounds here at the moment & the schools are keen for even preschools to attend. Not to mention there's a stomach bug in my DC school which saw 5 children from his class off yesterday.
I think it's because they know how disruptive this school year is going to be, so they'd prefer children to be in as much as possible.

4 nurserys in my area that I'm aware of have had to close (2 just for a day, 1 for just over a week and 1 for 2 weeks) but they are just the ones friends have mentioned who've been affected. The news seem to be keeping quite quiet about nurseries & schools from what I've noticed.

DD has been in nursery since June and they've not had any issues with any dc having to isolate. She's 2 and is always putting her fingers in her mouth, touching surfaces, picking things up... so I expected her to get a cold by now, but she's had nothing at all! They are very strict with handwashing there. We're in London.

I’m in the Southampton area and at the moment cases seem to be low around here my DD has just started preschool it’s been open 2 weeks with no issues and her and my DS have been at the childminders throughout as I work for the NHS and we’ve not had any issues I am dreading if it happens over the next few months as I’m doing a mix of working from home and going into my office and I love our new little routine of preschool for DD so hope the bubble doesn’t burst! My son has been back since June. He's only had a upset tummy once from something he ate, but no other illnesses. Even when DH and I got a cold he didn't even get a sniffle. Nursery haven't closed or reported anyone with symptoms.
I'm sure winter will be different as he was ill every few weeks last winter from Oct till March, but for now no issues.
