Just wondering, has anyone on immune suppressing medication had Covid? And how bad was it for you?

Are you immunosupressed or is it a friend/relative?

There was a poster on here who was a transplant patient who had Covid. As I have a relative with a transplant I did ask if the hospital reduced the anti rejection meds so they could fight Covid & they responded that they had.
I wish I could remember the ins & outs now but I’m sort of thinking they were poorly but not as bad as I feared an immunosuppressed transplant patient would be.

I will be watching hoping for some positive responses.

I am, I take the same medication that a transplant patient would take but on a much much lower dose. Was in the shielding programme, but didn’t actually shield as nurse told me I was moderate risk.
Hopefully that mentioned poster reads this and can retell their experience. Would be interesting to know if it’s a really key factor in how well you can fight it should you catch it x

I found the thread BUT after a quick skim I realise that I’ve mixed this person up with a transplant patient I read about. Anyhow details here, this person is on steroids and immunosuppressants. They last posted on this thread in April & were still unwell-gave me a bit of a panic! But I’ve done an advanced search and they have been posting on other threads & last posted on Saturday so they got through it.

My mum is, she takes a pretty high dose of steroids & there’s quite a high chance she had it in March. She had a terrible cough, fever & lost her smell & taste. At the time, that wasnt a recognised symptom & we all thought it was bizarre. She wasn’t well, she was in bed for a week & was quite worried. Took a good month for her to her over but she is fine. No long covid or anything. She thinks she was very lucky regardless as any illness is risk to her.. she hates winter as she refuses to let her illness stop her seeing her grandkids but she worries about the germs they bring home!

I take three very strong immunosuppressants. Oj the shielding list( didn't shield). Had it in march. Very mild. Absolutely fine. Nothing of anything. No lasting symptoms. My husband was more unwell than me and he doesn't take any meds or have any underlying conditions.
