Does your school ask for proof of a negative test?

Just curious as I’m sure I read in the guidelines at some point (not sure if it’s changed) that they were not able to ask for proof and had to take your word for it. But then I’ve also seen people saying they had to provide their school with evidence.

Ours haven't asked for evidence, we took them all back to school today and told the teachers as we dropped them off - we have been in touch though while they've been off to let them know when they took the test etc

I didnt have to.
They were happy when I rang them, and the symptoms were better.

wendz86 · 15/09/2020 14:07

I had to send a screen shot of the test result .

frozendaisy · 15/09/2020 14:20

Not had to isolate yet, but our schools have put on their information letters, yes negative test result required before return to school. But perhaps with this getting a test fiasco it might change, maybe.

School I work in - yes.

Schools my DC go to - not sure, I don’t think it’s been specifically said.

Pupils at my school are supposed to notify the school if they are off for Covid related reasons, whether that is because they have symptoms themselves, or because a close contact has symptoms, or a close contact has tested positive. Either way, they are meant to notify the school, get a test and then sent a copy of the email with the test results to the school once they are obtained. This evidencing of test results has just been introduced today by the SLT - don’t know what has prompted it.

RedCatBlueCat · 15/09/2020 14:26

Nope, but by the time he went back to school having recieved a test result, he would only have been off one further day to complete his 10 days isolation - and other school asking for brothers negative test result seems to stretch personal data boundaries (I'd have shown a copy if needed tho).

MarcelineMissouri · 15/09/2020 14:27

@RedCatBlueCat how long did it take to get your test results?!?

CeeceeBloomingdale · 15/09/2020 14:29

No, they accept it verbally

RedCatBlueCat · 15/09/2020 14:32

The way the weekends fell didnt help.
Ill Sat, managed to get a postal test Monday, delivered Tues, posted back Tues, results Sat night.
Went back to school on Monday, but day 11 would be Tuesday.
Not fit for purpose of test and trace. Did get his non-symptomatic brother back into school a week earlier tho.

I'm going mad here - my son has been off with a cough since Friday and I still haven't been able to book us tests - his school say he can't come back without a negative test result, even after the 10 days! I wish I'd lied and told them that he's off with a stomach bug instead.

MarcelineMissouri · 15/09/2020 14:39

That’s ridiculous @SpunBodgeSquarepants. even if he had a positive test he’d only have to isolate for 10 days. Why on earth can’t he go back after then?

We are not allowed to ask.
However, most parents are sending it in when they are sending their children back into school. It certainly helps when they do.
