i have told my ex that he cant see children if he is going 2 continue to see his new girlfriend wh lives in birmingham and they have been put on lockdown restrictions. My children aged 14 has severe anxiety and my 10 year old has bad learning difficulties amongst other problems which he has helped with at all. I cant trust him 2 do the right thing as he has previously carried on and done what he wants even if he is putting kids at risk. Am i doing the right thing

How do your children feel?

I really don't think preventing access to their dad is a proportionate response to him putting them at a slightly increased risk of a virus that almost entirely has little effect on children.

my son is very anxious and doesnt want to go anywhere and my 10 year old with learning difficulties wants to go but when he does silly things she gets very upset and scared and he tells her not 2 tell me. Last time he took her to a park but in her aunties car which is not in bubble and auntie refused 2 wear a mask and she was upset when she got home.

i have said he can see them if he doesnt stay at his new girlfriends house in birmingham and she doesnt come to his which they are not supposed to be doing anyway. I have also said he can see the outside but social distanced

At 10 and 14 your children can make their own minds up but it sounds like you've been projecting a massive amount of anxiety onto them if they are worried about their aunt not wearing a mask in the car.

By the way you do not have social distance from a partner you do not live with anymore. I was looking for something in the government guidance this morning and happened to spot that little gem, which I am sure will be a relief to lots of couples everywhere (but a source of annoyance to their ex's, no doubt).

When do you plan to let him see them again, and I mean properly, not two meters apart?
