What if your child has asthma etc? And what is a coughing fit?

DD has an issue with her chest which means she has some reduced lung capacity. She can't always clear phlegm easily and usually has a bit of a cough from September to March. She was born with this issue and has been on inhalers and montelukast.

We've all had the cold. No temperature, just sinusy, nose streaming, sneezing loads. I kept her off for a day, and now typically she has her slight cough back. She coughs perhaps once every half an hour - I've been listening carefully. It's one quick cough to clear her chest. There are hardly any covid19 cases in our area. This is absolutely 100% DD's usual seasonal cough, I've been dealing with it over a decade by now.

Does this count as a continuous cough? Tests are taking ages here. She's fine and in normal times I'd send her to school tomorrow without thinking twice. What happens if a child naturally coughs all winter long?

DS is the same his is seasonal asthma and end of last week we picked up the cold that’s doing the rounds. It’s meant instead of his cough been on an evening early morning it can happen thru out the day. He’s in school but head is well aware of it (she’s taking a practical approach) and I know it’s his asthma cough like you probably woken up by it enough times over the years. He has no temperature or any other symptoms. Also once he’s had a couple of puffs of his inhaler he usually doesn’t cough again for several hours.
