Children with multiple siblings

Just wondering how this works, how it’s fair.

If you have several children and one is in an exam year (y11/13). This child will have to isolate whenever a family member gets symptoms. It means a lot of missed school if you can’t get tested.

Compared with an only child, perhaps with parents WFH. That child is much less likely to have to isolate awaiting a test, as their risk is lower and they live with fewer people. Their main reason for missing school is likely to be a whole year ‘bubble’ staying at home, in which case online lessons will be delivered.

How is that a level playing field for kids in exam years?

You can spin anything as not being fair.

It's not fair that my only child has to sit next to yours, who has loads of siblings, and therefore poses a higher risk to mine.

I remember with GCSEs that we all got Let's Go or Longman books per subject and used them to help with exam notes on the syllabus. 2 weeks or even 4 weeks at home setting up study notes on all subjects would be time very well spent in an exam year, we were cramming it in during holidays and weekends. There are online resources too these days that are similar. It's a good way to work out what questions to ask a teacher to make good use of being back, by having gone over the whole course. If it were my child, I'd suggest that they come up with a plan for building up study notes if they have to stay home.
