For those who don’t usually get the flu vaccination ...

Will you be getting it this year? My children don’t usually get it, but we’ve already had a horrid cold and I’m becoming increasingly more anxious about a winter full of illnesses.

I’m not an anti-vaxxer so please I don’t want this to turn in to a vaccination debate, I just want to hear from people who for the first time may get it this year (or may not)

Yes, in previous years its been offered by my employer but I don't usually get it. I will this year; if they don't offer it I'll pay for it.

I'm a nurse who has never had it, as didn't want around 70 different flu vaccinations given to me throughout my lifetime (started nursing at 18). I've also always said I'll only have it when I think it's primarily being offered for my personal benefit, not to protect the likes of my elderly grandma who always refused it herself, or to stop me going off work sick with flu.
I've tested positive for Covid antibodies, and am strongly considering having the flu vaccine this year for the first time.
I've previously had flu twice.

No, I won't. This was the first year I've been offered it (turning 65).

I have it through work and yes I’ll probably have it again this year if it’s done on the day that I’m in. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way if they are doing it on a different day though.

I'm not in a category that's offered it but my children are and I don't let them get it. They won't be getting it this year either, they are fit and healthy with a healthy diet, I personally think the flu vaccination is unnecessary for them.

Yes, I’m usually fairly confident that I’d overcome flu but the combination of flu and a Covid doesn’t bear thinking about. It’s a tenner as well..

I would have to pay for it I think? If I am offered it free I will take it, if not then no.

Mine is provided by my employer and I do usually get it, occasionally I forget, or just 'don't get round to it' (I didn't get it last year), but I will definitely make sure I do this year.

my surgery normally ring me,but my work also provide it, however i have just today noticed on my prescription i will need to ring my surgery for one!

Yes, I'm intending to pay for myself this year. My husband gets it through work and children have it at school

Yes. Imagine flu and Covid on top, wouldn’t stand a chance. My kids will have it too. DH will pay for it this year too and he has never had it before, but worth getting it this year

Torn on this as can pay privately and have it done as a family at the local chemist but if it lowers immunity for a short while then I’d be worried about being more vulnerable to other viruses.

I think it's good you are considering having the vaccine this year. Aren't HCPs encouraged to have it to help protect their vulnerable patients?

I personally think everyone should be offered it, flu is horrible and can be a killer.

Yes, I am paying for it. Mainly because I can’t imagine looking after three very young children with the flu.

And I’m not anti vax - I was just out off when the nurse told me it doesn’t protect against every strain so there’s a chance I will still get flu anyway. Too much of an unknown for me.
