Has anyone had a test recently and got the results back really quickly?

I had a test in June and had the results back the next day. I’ve heard the time taken has slipped a lot so wondered what people were finding at the moment. I just took ds for a test this morning (when his cough is blatantly just a follow on from his big standard cold Angry) and I’m trying to be positive that dc won’t have to miss more than 1/2 days at school after only just getting back to it!!

I had one Thursday afternoon and got results 7am Friday.
Hardest thing was getting the appointment, spent ages refreshing the page. Some were released at 10am Thursday and I was able to book for a centre 40 mins away but don't know if that's a consistent release time.

It seems home testing kits are taking longer than centres.
2 colleagues both had home tests this week- 1 took it on Tuesday, results came Saturday morning. Another took it Wednesday, still waiting on results.

We're in Edinburgh. DS had a persistent cough so on Sunday evening I logged in for a test for him. Was given a Monday 10am slot at Cockenzie - not as close as Edinburgh airport, but only a 20 minute drive. Negative result was texted through at 6.15am Tuesday, so much to DS disgust he was back to school that day Grin( He had been hoping for another day to catch up on his homework)

Friends DD who was tested on Sunday afternoon at Edinburgh airport got results through Tuesday afternoon, so think as that site is more popular they are taking a bit longer.

DS had a test last Saturday 12.30 and got results Sunday 11.30 so less than 24hrs.

Schools will send coughing kids home at the moment until they have a negative test - stop blaming people for getting tested when they have no other option. There is no public info about wet or dry coughs - if there was I wouldn't have had the nightmare week I've just had - a regular cough regardless of whether productive or not = test if you have kids in school and don't want to self isolate for 14 days
