I'm not overly fussed on it being pretty, but just one that doesn't get sweaty/itchy. I've been using disposables but want to make the switch to reusable.

Have a look on Etsy. There were some good ones on there a few weeks ago when I was buying.

OxanaVorontsova · 12/09/2020 17:10

these are great

Aridane · 12/09/2020 17:16

I haven’t found any cotton Reusable ones as breathable As the disposables

dementedpixie · 12/09/2020 17:19

Same as Ariadne. Have bought fabric ones and dp's firm made some just before lockdown but we've abandoned all of those for the thin papery ones now. Currently stockpiling as school starts next week and they'll be mandatory.

Lucindainthesky · 12/09/2020 18:15

I've bought some great ones from Etsy.

Lots of nice reusable fabric face coverings on your local community mask tree
communitymasktrees.org/find-a-local-mask-tree
Usually for a £2 voluntary donation to charity

I have found the Sea Sslt ones to be comfortable and a good fit;

I have some triple layer cotton ones from gap which are soft fabric and not itchy. I also have some from StemPunkWear which are nice and soft, but you need to put a filter in them (any non-woven material is fine).

wegetthejobdone · 12/09/2020 21:18

I got a hand made one locally and have made one of my own, will make more. The only way to really get one to fit is to make your own or buy a selection. (Although I'm fussy as I need them to fit well to stop my glasses steaming up!)

Really comfortable, with a great nose wire (so reduce steaming up)

I can't recommend these enough! Other mners have bought from here after my recommendation and liked them too.

Happydaysforever123 · 18/09/2020 19:02

@MarmiteCrumpet25 I looked at the sea salt masks but it put me off they had no wire around the nose. Do the fit tightly around the nose? I wear glasses so need to avoid my glasses streaming up!

MarmiteCrumpet25 · 18/09/2020 19:15

They do fit pretty closely so I don’t think it’s a problem 😷

Happydaysforever123 · 18/09/2020 19:39

Thanks @MarmiteCrumpet25, I'll try some. I'm quite comfortable with wearing the disposable masks but I'm not liking the waste.

JaceLancs · 18/09/2020 20:24

I have tried smug masks and prontaprint ones
My all out favourites are from home bargains at £1.29 each
Been back today to buy a few more

This is just my own opinion as someone who sews clothes as a hobby, I don't expect anyone else to be persuaded so please don't get offended.

Face masks with seams right up the middle.

May as well wear nothing.

They may look safer, as in a closer fit, but that's just a split that's been sewn up with thread. That will be getting stretched and pulled apart contantly, creating little gaps. Every pin and needle hole in fabric disrupts the weave or knit, weakening the integrity of the fabric and creating tiny holes that don't self heal even if it looks like they have. Tiny mystery holes in tee shirts have usually begun this way.

Is also why clothes usually go at the seams first.

Puncturing the centre of a face mask during construction is a really bad idea and you would be hard pushed to stitch a curve like that without pinning it first, so even more tiny holes.

Seam up the front means it's just a dust mask, a nice looking dust mask but still just a dust mask.

Face coverings need to be a continuous piece of fabric across your wet bits.

Nose wires have their drawbacks too as it makes you more likely to go fiddling with your face near your nose and eyes a lot because of trying to get it comfortable.
