Soon people will give up trying and failing to access a test, and just wont bother

Do you agree? At the moment we’re all enthusiastic and want to do the right thing by persevering with booking a test. I can imagine if the government don’t sort this out soon, people will give up and just keep quiet about any future symptoms. Who’s going to keep taking time off work to repeatedly refresh a page that releases slots once in a blue moon and is harder to make a successful booking than a take that concert?

Totally agree. Been trying since yesterday and have now given up. Dd seems better today after fever yesterday with d and v. The whole thing is just ridiculous. I will keep her off for a fortnight rather than travel for 2 hours to get a test.

Agree. I'm a single parent and I can't work from home so if I started with symptoms every day I can't access a test is a day with no income.

Good

The system is shit, our response has been shit, the sooner we just give up and get on with things the better. This government can't help us, they can't organise anything (but they can divert all our money to their friends). Just let it find its natural level, test the carehomes and the hospitals, social distance, forget the rest

@ABitOdd

My son started with cough and fever during the night. Total nightmare trying to access a test eventually booked one an hour drive away but when I submitted it took me back to home screen so unsure if it has booked it or not I’ll be turning up regardless. The other option was a home test which would take 48 hours to get here then you had to wait until w weekday just before the last post was collected (no courier option) even though you are supposed to be isolating you have to walk to post box! So if we did a home test it most likely wouldn’t get tested in the first 5 days of symptoms! So could get an invalid result. It’s ridiculous. I’m also an nhs worker I’ve been going into work throughout the pandemic and I can’t access a quicker test!
I think if it took you back to the home screen before confirming it means someone else booked the slot before you - I had the same happen and went through again, booked another time slot and got a confirmation.

Yeah, I agree. Asking people to live online like they are fighting for a Christmas Eve delivery slot and then telling them to travel 150 miles, there and back, is one way to keep the figures low.

Ethelfleda · 12/09/2020 11:38

I agree with you.
I won’t, but then I have the luxury of WFH if I need to isolate and we wouldn’t lose income.
Someone who doesn’t get paid if they don’t go to work and can’t get a test for days - very different story.

Redcups64 · 12/09/2020 11:46

Agreed! As a family we have followed all rules and are happy to do so for the greater good of everyone.

However my daughter had a temperature last night, probably due to a cold. We just by the skin of our teeth got a test. In future I probably would think twice about letting anyone know they had 1 of the 3 symptoms as getting a test is too hard and keeping them off education longer for what could be deemed as a cold is too high a price to pay.

Bagelsandbrie · 12/09/2020 11:47

No one is going to bother. It’s a complete mess.
