Two-year-old had a temperature for a couple of days, what now?

No other symptoms at all, never lethargic and kept running around as normal. Was a little bit off her food on Thursday but ate about 80% of normal yesterday, including lots of fluids. I've got her on antibiotics and managed the temperature yesterday with Calpol and nurofen but she seems right as rain today.

What now? Do you have to stay home for two weeks?

What is she on antibiotics for? What did the dr say about Covid testing?

I think as it's still a Covid symptoms she'll need a test or to self isolate as you say.

Get her tested.

Absolutely impossible to get an NHS Test, have been trying for the last two days. Now trying to pay extortionate amounts to get a private test, but also struggling with that.

In terms of antibiotics, the doctor prescribed in case this was/is a bacterial thing but she's already back to normal. She will be two next week and her birthday party was supposed to be tomorrow, which I've obviously cancelled. She did a couple settling in sessions at the nursery last week but other than that hasn't really had contact with others apart from walks in the park and going on the swings (I obsessively clean her hands afterwards)

Did the GP suggest a test?

What sort of bacterial thing did he/she think it might be?

Keep trying with the NHS tests, it's a massive pain in the arse but more do come up periodically. Better than staying in for a fortnight.

What a shame that the GP jumped straight to antibiotics. To be honest, I personally wouldn't even have contacted a GP for a mild temp with no other symptoms. Overusing antibiotics won't help her longterm.

Anyway, as I am sure you are aware by now, a temp over 37.8 is considered a potential covid symptom, so you must either get a test or sit out the isolation period.

A fever - you have to test!!! My son had Covid. He had a low temp and sore throat for 2 days but playing and fine in himself.

It's literally impossible to get a test in some areas right now, there's nothing OP can do about that.

The OP can keep trying to get a test though @sqirrelfriends. I agree it's difficult but her other option is that the whole household isolates. There's no point in stopping even looking to see if more tests are released every couple of hours.
