Ds 15 ,has woken up with a stuffy nose this morning and sneezing a lot, i have decided to keep him off school due to the sneezing mostly
Do you think that is the right thing to do at the moment ?
No covid symptoms from the three to isolate but will keep eye on temp later
He does sometimes get some allergies so could even be that , but friend thinks I am crazy keeping him off
I spoke to school who are fine with it and agree if he is sneezing won't be comfortable for him in classroom either
What would you do ?

I’m keeping my 8 year old off for the same reason. The school have said they don’t want them in if they are unwell for any reason.

I kept my 7 year old home yesterday as she has a cold, she got no sleep the night before.

Back today, luckily we are in a low case area and teacher recognised it as a cold. Just checked I will be home in case I need to collect her.

The kids are going to be getting lots of sniffles after being away for so long, only took 2 days for our daughter to get a cold!

My DS has a bit of a stuffy nose today. He's fine in himself though, no cough or temperature or sore throat so I've sent him in. I'm not keeping him off unless he's too ill to go in or has Covid symptoms because who knows how much time he'll have off otherwise!

@Waxonwaxoff10 if just sniffly i would of sent him in but it was the sneezing that made me think otherwise
I have just given him an allergy tablet as last night he cleaned all his pc out ,as was dusty and I am wondering if that is what has caused sneezing or if it will just be a cold
I think he will have lots of time off as due to allergies etc he often picks up coughs and for these I know we will likely to have to get him tested just incase
School were fine and agreed with sneezing a day off would be better
He is year 11 so it does concern me with how much time off
A school a few miles away already had one case and we are in quite a low case area in general although one part of the county ( not ours ) just had a bit of a sharp rise

One of Mine was sent home with a cold earlier. I did send them yesterday but I checked with every teacher first what they wanted me to do. They were happy for them to go in and it seems significant numbers have colds including staff. I was happy to keep them home or send them, but it's hard to know what to do.

Mine have been isolated since lockdown because of shielding so I expect they will pick up lots of things over the next few weeks.

My daughter stayed home yesterday and today with a cold. She's coughed here and there, but just from mucous I guess. Seems best to me to keep her home rather than spread it about at this point. Especially if school hears her cough once or twice and insists she's not back until she's had a Covid test! I would of course do that if she had cough / temperature... but this is a cold!

My son (3) went to childminder with it all week - his temp was fine and they agreed it seemed ok. He was more chirpy than my dd though, which is why she's home.

I checked with school and we agreed due to the constant sneezing to keep him off for the day
Only been back since Tuesday but i have given him anti -hestimine as constant sneezing making me think may be more allergy related, I have never heard someone sneeze so much with a cold. He always gets a cough in winter so im sure we will go through keeping him off and havjng to test before xmas
