Zoe app test booking

Has anyone done this? I’ve had an email telling me to book a test but I’m confused how. The link takes me up the general test booking website. I seem to have to select that I’ve got symptoms when I haven’t and the help guide doesn’t resemble what is showing on the site.

Help!

Someone said on a different thread about saying you are a keyworker and it tells you to select that option in your email

PurpleDaisies · 10/09/2020 23:39

This is where I’m not sure what to select.

Did you figure it out? Having exactly the same problem! I've done before via ZOE and I'm sure that was a different testing website...

dementedpixie · 13/09/2020 15:02

What the set of options underneath?

ChalkDinosaur · 13/09/2020 15:08

Nothing relevant... I tried using the local council option but there are no tests available anyway. May well just give up this time (I don't have any of the three named symptoms) but it would be good to know the answer in case I get asked to do another one.

Do you both have some sort of symptoms? Have you to select the keyworker option?

Grrretel · 13/09/2020 15:13

Did you read the whole email? Someone else has said the instructions are right at the bottom.

I’d pick the “I have coronavirus symptoms” though.

ChalkDinosaur · 13/09/2020 15:16

Yes, I read the other thread too. I feel like this is a different testing link to the one I used last time, the options on the website don't really align with the instructions on the email this time.

Oh well! It does say you can say you're a key worker so maybe I should just pick the symptoms option (I told the app I've got a cold basically!)

RicStar · 13/09/2020 15:20

Yes I posted about this yesterday -as well- the options don't align with the email. I gave up as I dont have any of the 3 symptoms and I couldn't chase a test all day - and wasn't sure what the 'right' thing to do is given the lack of test capacity.

TheDogsMother · 13/09/2020 15:25

I had this and just answered that I had symptoms. I believe you have to choose Keyworker as you are essentially a 'volunteer' if you are testing via the app.

ChalkDinosaur · 13/09/2020 15:37

Thanks all. I will try again once more later on!

PurpleDaisies · 13/09/2020 16:17

I didn’t have any luck sorting it out.

Have emailed them to ask about the discrepancy between the test booking guidance and what is actually on the site now. No luck getting a test.

I don’t have any symptoms. I only reported I had a headache and felt tired.

I finally got a reply in case anyone is interested....

I have been asked to have a test from the zoe app I have reported having a sore throat and blocked nose since Sunday and because of the lack of tests I don't think I should waste one having it done.

What should I do

PurpleDaisies · 15/09/2020 14:18

Just ignore the test request.

FWIW I don’t think it’s a waste of a test. The research is really important and you never know, you could be positive. The department of health approve testing for this reason.

Sadless · 15/09/2020 14:28

I have tried to book a test but because it says busy. I a tick the box that I have 1 on the main 3 symptoms it let me carry on but I haven't any of them. So will try later on.

Thanks
Sal

ChalkDinosaur · 15/09/2020 14:43

Thanks for sharing the reply PurpleDaisies I gave up in the end but it's good to know in case I get another email.

HelloDaisy · 15/09/2020 14:55

I had the same email yesterday after reporting that I felt sick on Sunday morning. I was reluctant about stating that I am an essential worker as the tests are in such short supply but decided to as it may help their research and I have a headache today. I can’t get a test though as have tried all day and the system just says too busy or no tests available.

PurpleDaisies · 15/09/2020 15:09

It took me three days of trying to get a test. If I’d needed to be tested to go to work I’d probably have accepted one of the 60 mile away options offered to me but since this was only for research purposes I wasn’t willing to put myself out that much.

The test centre was very quiet but I suppose that’s not where the problem is with testing at the moment.

School down the original email from ZOE. It tells you to book in using the Key Worker category.

I did mine through the app for a sore throat. It cam back negative. However, I would still do it again. It is useful research for them to have and they were part of the group who determined some of the key symptoms previously.

Aragog · 15/09/2020 16:21

Maybe see the role as being a research participant as a 'key worker' when it comes to testing. Without people participating we wouldn't discover everything we need to know.

LeSquigh · 15/09/2020 16:26

I’m really not trying to be an arse here and I realise that this study is really helpful but when emergency workers with symptoms like myself cannot get tested at the moment is it really appropriate that people with no symptoms are trying to get tests?

PurpleDaisies · 15/09/2020 16:31

Scroll down the original email from ZOE. It tells you to book in using the Key Worker category.

That didn’t match what I was presented with. The only key worker option was with symptoms (which I didn’t have) and in general, the site didn’t match the ‘helpful’ guide that was emailed.

This is what is on the bottom of my email.

You will be asked to confirm you are an essential worker as part of the booking process. We have agreed with DHSC that you can access testing for the purposes of this research, so please select ‘OK, I qualify’ when you reach the relevant screen. Please note: this permission only applies to you as the study participant and to any other app users who live in the same household with you. You must not encourage other members of your family or friends to access a test unless they have also been invited as a study participant or a symptomatic essential worker, and therefore already qualify.

The “relevant screen” never appeared.

It’s a little patronising to be told to read the email again when the information about what to select was just not there.

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 15/09/2020 16:34

@LeSquigh take it up with the Department of Health. They think this is a good use of tests.

I have no qualms about booking a test under these circumstances.

OP posts:
Aragog · 16/09/2020 10:01

LeSquigh - without research tests like these we wouldn't know all the symptoms and potential issues.
