School - how worried are you 1-10?

I'm finding it impossible to settle on how worried I am about school, about whether my children will pick up covid there and how worried I am if that happens.

If you were to put your worry on a scale 1-10, with 1 being 'no more worried than a normal year' and 10 being 'terrified', where are you?

I think I'm going for an average of 6 right now.

About them having COVID - 1
About me and DH having COVID maybe 2/3
About distribution to their education 7/8( more of an annoyance scale rather than anxiety)
Children pick up and distribute germs of all types at all times.
I haven’t spent the last 10 years of their lives panicking about the germs they bring home so I’m not starting now.

2 or 3. Not for the kids though. 1 for them

Another big fuck-up waiting to happen...

HereWeGoAgainAgainAgain · 19/02/2021 22:30

0-1 for DC suffering with covid.
7 for me catching covid from DC (3rd trimester pregnant with risky pregnancy already so I'm CV)
9 for continuing disruption and chaos at bubbles shutting with no notice once again.

SeldomFollowedIt · 19/02/2021 22:33

Minus 10. Can’t wait for them to return.

ExpulsoCorona · 19/02/2021 22:33

2 for the kids, 7 for the teachers (this would be 1-2 if they were vaccinated), 10 for more repeated self isolations which were not disruptive than solid home learning.

I think kids are less likely to test positive than teachers because they are less likely to have one of the three symptoms that trigger booking a test even if they are walking around with the virus. Teachers are much more likely to test positive because they are more likely to get typical symptoms. If they were vaccinated we'd be less likely to be in this repetitive cycle of isolations. It would have made some sense to do this in half term.

*more not not

1 (and I have anxiety!)

Far more concerned about their MH if schools don’t open 8th March.

SunshiningBetty · 19/02/2021 22:39

10 before I had my vaccine, 4 now I’ve had it

ArosAdraDrosDolig · 19/02/2021 22:54

7-8 covid

Not really worried about their education. They have been learning with me and there are other ways of learning than attending school. One of mine was home Ed for years, didn’t follow the school curriculum and entered school ahead of expected levels. Plus everyone has been at home so they will go over things.

ArosAdraDrosDolig · 19/02/2021 22:55

The social side is more problematic but they will be ok

But then one of my dc hasnt stopped going to school.

For me personally I dread it happening if they catch it or have to isolate in case they have it, but at the same time it is one of those things.

I’m a 9 as far as being pissed off with how all of this has been handled though - including exams.

BobsDouble · 19/02/2021 23:04

Terrified about the long term effect on their mental health, social skills, education.

KinderWild · 19/02/2021 23:05

For my son re risk of covid, 1
For me third trimester, high risk, complex pregnancy and CV, 9
We may well decide not to send him back until I've had the baby

  1. No concerns at all. Schools need to open
Lemons1571 · 19/02/2021 23:13
  1. Sometimes veering into a 10. Both the wrong side of 45 with underlying conditions but not on the CV list.

I posted on this back in September and I still feel the same. 1 for catching Covid, I'm not scared of it at all. More concerned about further disruption to education and further restrictions.

I want the schools to open safely as there was so much disruption and bubble bursting before Christmas. I worry about getting it because I'm vulnerable but I'm in group 6 so hoping to get my vaccine soon.
