Just what it says in the title - considering buying a £30ish oximeter for our medicine cabinet. It's it worth it or are they only any good if there the super expensive ones?

Does anyone know what averages should be for children ? Little one (5) has a cough and I can't find a guide online anywhere 😣

It should still be over 94, under 92 I would be calling for help. But children especially young children are harder to use these devices to get an accurate number. If your child is breathing harder, sucking in on the neck and or ribs and or is finding it hard to speak then 999.

@Castiel07 he ended up with these symptoms yesterday -I did his blood oximeter which read 88 , paramedics came and got the same so we went in 😬 he's much better this morning

Castiel07 · 19/09/2020 16:51

I'm glad he is better today, hope he continues to improve.
Very scary though isn't it, I have 2 children who have asthma and I know how serious breathing difficulties can be and how quickly they can escalate.

Due to initial consultations now being done over the phone, we have put a separate first-aid kit together from our large one. It contains a blood pressure monitor, temperature scanner and pulse-oximeter. This way we can at least give the GP the basics.

@Castiel07 much better today thanks been playing and happy , blood oxygen still low though now he's asleep -I can't find a guide anywhere online about it 😤

beachbodhi · 19/09/2020 21:26

@Castiel07 I already said that yesterday 🙄 see he's breathing fine and been happy tonight but reading still low -they said might not be accurate coz he's a child but paramedics was the same -I don't want to take him in again 🥺

@beachbodhi if you are in any doubt at all speak to a doctor.

That said, it is normal for blood o2 to drop a little bit when you sleep because you breath more slowly and shallowly.

beachbodhi · 20/09/2020 10:49

@Porcupineinwaiting thanks for the reply , it was 90 and is 99 this morning , he's well in himself playing and eating so going to continue keeping an eye x

I have the anapulse one from amazon too. It had quite good reviews I think?
