No...

IvyEf · 09/09/2020 17:41

No.

BabyLlamaZen · 09/09/2020 17:42

The whole point is it is a separate person who can carry the virus and contaminate others.
Can an unborn baby do that?

No! 😂

poshme · 09/09/2020 17:42

No.
But if you went into labour and gave birth while you had 5 other people in the house who are not all members of your household, you'd start breaking the law the moment the baby is born.

BabyLlamaZen · 09/09/2020 17:43

You've got to think about why the rule is 6. Unborn baby doesn't count in this sense.

Also, a mother also had a say over her own body until the baby is born.

SummerHouse · 09/09/2020 17:43

What if you have head lice? That's a lot of fines right there.

Yep! 😂

But op, I reckon they'd let you off for that one.

Bramblecrumble · 09/09/2020 17:44

Grin hahaha. Just think a fetus is in a protective bubble. Nice evening giggle.

Funkypolar · 09/09/2020 17:44

poshme - I wonder if they become a person when they crown?

So if it was me, DH, two midwives and DS...with my mum around to look after DS, we would be technically breaking the law. Interesting!

If these hypothetical midwives needed to do a hospital transfer, would some people have to leave the house to allow the paramedics to enter?

RedToothBrush · 09/09/2020 17:50

Only if you are a nutty American prolifer.

WrongKindOfFace · 09/09/2020 17:50

Employ your mum to care for DS and your home becomes a workplace. The virus therefore knows not to enter and you can have as many people as you like round.

The rules dont apply if its a workplace setting...
Remmy123 · 09/09/2020 17:53

😂😂😂😂😂

Yetiyoga · 09/09/2020 18:22

Oh good gosh this can't be serious?

Dollywilde · 09/09/2020 18:24

I actually do have a genuine question whether a breastfed baby counts? As mum and baby can’t be separated...

Hypothetical but baby DD is 3 weeks and is EBF, I’ve wondered as I know there are rules about separating mums from EBF babies.

IlanaWexler · 09/09/2020 18:25

@Dollywilde The rule applies to "people of all ages". Your baby is a person.

AppleKatie · 09/09/2020 18:26

I think you should only be in a group of five in case a Covid Marshall turns up and makes it six.

Dollywilde · 09/09/2020 18:29

Oh I agree even a newborn counts as a person (and I’m not going to break the rules so like I say it’s hypothetical.) I was just thinking about meeting up with my NCT group as we’re 5 people but with all our BF babies we’re 10. But then it’s multiple households so I guess off the cards anyway? Just musing really!

IlanaWexler · 09/09/2020 18:42

@Dollywilde You'll have to meet up in groups of 3 mums and 3 babies.

IlanaWexler · 09/09/2020 18:43

Mixing households doesn't matter anymore apparently

Keratinsmooth · 09/09/2020 18:44

Ffs

Waspnest · 09/09/2020 18:46

Ffs

Indeed

SomewhereEast · 09/09/2020 18:48

Sweet Lord, is this a piss take? Can people really not puzzle this one out for themselves?

movingonup20 · 09/09/2020 18:51

In all seriousness, police are not going to be going door to door to check whether there's a sleeping baby upstairs or a new born in a pram whilst their parents dine with friends. The rule is 6 but as long as people are sensible the two scenarios above will not cause major covid outbreaks or lead to fines. But 6 plus a newborn is not like the 30-40 gathered at my old neighbours in the lockdown area a month ago! By saying 6 they are keeping it simple
