Family isolating....

Can I just clarify- if a member of your household has a fever but then tests negative- you all go back to normal??? Or all isolate for 2 weeks still. ....

Government guidance seems to indicate isolate anyway( if I'm reading correctly) but my work guidance says all back to normal if test is negative?

My 1 year old has a temp over 38 now (was 36.5 5pm when I checked him as whingy) and very clingy :-( sleeping on me atm.

You all go back to normal. Baby stats off until nursery until symptoms are gone.

Obviously I'll be testing him but just wanted to know as hoping it's not covid!!!!!

You go back to normal as the negative test shows the temperature was caused by something else. If the test was positive then you’d have to stay isolated

Brill thankyou!!!! Just need to get test booked now- hopefully won't be an issue!

If the person with symptoms tests negative you can come out of isolation.

StatisticalSense · 08/09/2020 20:28

The person with a fever remains in isolation until 48 hours after the fever has gone but can then leave isolation and the family can immediately leave isolation.

If you've had diarrhoea then you need to isolate for 48 hours after your last episode (as always), otherwise til you feel well enough.

Ok so no luck booking a test so far.

My boss is getting arsy with me and saying I can just turn up to a drive through centre without pre-booking. I thought you had to pre-book.... at least I did last time. Have I misunderstood or has he? many thanks

Yes you do seem to be able to just turn up at some (all?) test centres, that's what we did yesterday and have heard many others have. Some explicitly state that you can do that, others don't but it's still possible.

Can I ask out of interest, how did you get a test for your older child via school, do you mean they gave you one of their allocated kits or some other way?

Lostinagoodbook · 09/09/2020 12:07

They gave me an allocated kit. Ok I will try and turn up to one for youngest.
