Apparently new guildlines have been released saying children can’t go back to nursery with a cough, even if they have had a negative test.

Dd always gets coughs with a cold, I’m going to be off work for the rest of the year if this is the case. So bloody stressful!!!

The cough can linger for weeks afterwards though. Are they making up their own rules?

No. Our nursery have said children can return with a cough as long as they've had a negative test/followed 10 days isolation from start of symptoms if positive & feel well in themselves. As far as I know this is national guidance as school are saying the same thing. I agree it's madness to say they can't attend with a cough at all, 2 of my 5 cough for most of Autumn/Winter & Spring. (We has our first tests yesterday having developed a cold on Sat & a cough late Sunday. Hoping we get results quickly).

You can stop self-isolating after 10 days if either:

  • you do not have any symptoms
  • you just have a cough or changes to your sense of smell or taste – these can last for weeks after the infection has gone

So fuck knows where DD’s nursery has got this from. I mean if they do continue with this they won’t have any children in the setting in a few weeks time.

It’s just such a farce, she doesn’t have covid, and they’ve never worried about coughs and colds before.

here you go screen shot of the relevant part attached. It clearly says the cough & changes to smell & taste can last a while so shouldn't stop you getting back to normal if you feel up to it.
