Sore throat - what now?

I have developed a sore throat, I get one several times a year and this is the exact same one I always get.

What do I do now? Do I have to isolate, do I have to get tested? How do I go about it?

Does the family have to isolate until it goes or until I have been tested?

The data suggests most people get headaches and fatigue though?! Maybe the government will change it soon, they should do!

Trouble is most viruses make you feel similar to these symptoms

But if i don't have fatigue, don't have a headache, don't have a fever, don't have a loss of appetite but DO have the runny nose and sore throat that are the classic signs of a cold, then getting tested is a waste.

It is not socially responsible at all to get a Covid test without one of these three symptoms. You are stopping someone else who is more likely than you to have covid19 from getting a test.

Exactly. And as a teacher, I am also depriving children of the education that they need so much by taking the (minimum) 5 days out of class that are, locally, needed to source a test and have it returned.

I don't know whether I'm doing the right thing or not?

DD (aged 10), came home Friday, with a sore throat, sneezing, runny nose, etc. Yesterday she was miserable and her temperature spiked 102. She didn't eat, just slept. No tests available (husband away, I don't drive).

Today she's better in herself, still sore throat, mildly raised temperature, but not 'hot' like yesterday, but her blocked nose is giving her a hacking cough, when she sniffs. Not often, but occasional.

I woke this morning with sore throat, tight chest, sneezing and runny nose - I am vulnerable.

I ordered home tests as her temperature was still raised this morning, but appears to have subsided completely now, though I'm getting a bit warm.

I feel as if it's just a cold, but temperature and cough met yhe threshold, so she may be off school unecessarily.

If she has a temperature or a cough she definitely needs a test! School will send her home.

Thanks, we have ordered one. Three schools in our town have had cases since Thursday. Our school hasn't (yet), though one mum said her DD was ill, temperature, etc, but she still sent in the siblings Angry
