Rule confusion

Am a bit of confused and wondered if someone could clarify this for me ...

At my place of employment if you travel to a country not on the safe list you are required to self isolate for 2 weeks afterwards. Some people have taken covid tests as soon as they returned, got the all clear but been told to still stay at home because the incubation period can be up to 2 weeks. Fair enough.

Yet if you remain in the UK and a family member shows symptoms, you have a test, have the all clear and can return to work the next day. Surely the incubation period is the same so why are the sets of rules different?

have to ask your employer why the difference, no?

There aren't different rules. Even if you get a negative test if a family member is positive you still need to isolate for 14 days. Where are you seeing alternative rules?

dementedpixie · 05/09/2020 21:08

your employer is wrong if that is what they are saying

If you have symptoms you are past the incubation period and I’d have virus would be positive...
Employer sounds right to me...

  1. doesn’t matter if negative test after travel Must quarantine if on list
  2. if symptoms you isolate until test results and can stop if have negative and continue if positive
  3. if been in contact with someone with positive test you isolate for 14 days even if you test negative as as per point one you may still be “brewing”
