what do you do? Saw all the news bulletins yesterday with people having to drive miles to get a test because there aren't enough centres....
If I'm feeling ill then noone will want to give me a lift 😀

OP posts:
MorgenMuffel · 04/09/2020 21:57

you can get them in the post

MRex · 04/09/2020 21:58

Get a home test. People who are very ill won't be driving either.

mollypuss1 · 04/09/2020 22:56

There are walk in testing sites also.

Hospitalvisit · 04/09/2020 22:58

Fil got a taxi (that sounds awful but we were away at the time).

qwertypie · 04/09/2020 23:01

Via post. It's all on the gov.uk website...

Bol87 · 04/09/2020 23:01

There are walk in centres around me. One that pops up all round the council area on different days & a permanent one in the centre. We are a hot spot though.. just out of local lockdown..

DamitJanet · 05/09/2020 06:39

Home Test or wall through testing centre if there’s one local to you (there are plans for more of the latter).

MRex · 05/09/2020 07:06

@Hospitalvisit - that doesn't just "sound" awful, it is disgustingly selfish behaviour, I hope for the taxi driver's sake he was negative. What was so urgent that your FIL couldn't wait a couple of days for a home test?

PaperMonster · 05/09/2020 07:14

With the postal ones though now there are designated post boxes to put them in. I was feeling too ill to drive to one, so didn’t use the test! The previous postal one, someone came and collected it.

smartiecake · 05/09/2020 07:16

My FIL had to have a test before a hospital procedure. He doesn't drive and they told him he had to get a taxi. They did not offer a home test as I think the results are not reliable enough

ifonly4 · 05/09/2020 07:31

Reading through the posts, all I can say is I'm glad I'm not a taxi driver. Hope they were told before they'll have a potential Covid case in his (family) car

PineconeOfDoom · 05/09/2020 07:38

Asymptomatic people being screened before a planned hospital admission or procedure can go in a taxi, because there is no indication they have Covid.

People being tested because they have symptoms absolutely should not be in a taxi.

Rosalisa · 05/09/2020 07:51

I was wondering about this. I don't drive and I'm in the Highlands. How would I send my home test away if I'm miles from a postbox and / or feeling ill?

starfishmummy · 05/09/2020 07:53

Theres a walk in testing centre here, however it is the other side of the city to us so we wouldnt be abke to get there.

doritodiva · 05/09/2020 08:42

I went to a walk in site yesterday. But had to drive to get there.

MRex · 05/09/2020 08:53

@Rosalisa - ask your local covid support group (covidmutualaid.org/) or your local council (search the council name and covid support) to collect and drop it off for you.

I don't know why everyone has forgotten support systems were put in place back in early April. They're still there! Maybe they should be advertised again.

GoldenOmber · 05/09/2020 09:02

You can’t get a taxi to the drive-in centres, you have to go in your own/household’s car and tell them the registration number when you book the test.

How would I send my home test away if I'm miles from a postbox and / or feeling ill?

They will send a courier to pick it up if you can’t get to a post box. There’s a number to call in the booklet they send out with the test.

Says here that a courier picks it up for you the next day www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-getting-tested/pages/arrange-a-test/
