A family of 3 when they returned from The Netherlands

Waxonwaxoff0 · 03/09/2020 20:55

My mum had Covid so she did. I don't know anyone else who did.

canyon2000 · 03/09/2020 21:02

My friend has just finished 2 weeks quarantine after coming back from the Netherlands. No-one checked on her during this time.

EmmaStone · 03/09/2020 21:05

Quite a few (including us) 95% because of travel rather than symptoms.

lljkk · 03/09/2020 21:19

Can't think of anyone. Or DC mentioning anyone they know. It's possible one of my work colleagues did. They were in France around the time the Qtne for there was announced. They said they wouldn't communicate all of August anyway. I have a colleague who went to Spain, but I get impression she's just stayed there for now.

fitflopqueen · 03/09/2020 21:25

none

Ava2323 · 03/09/2020 21:52

I did in March when I had covid symptoms (2 weeks before lockdown). No idea if it was actually it. Loads of people I know in my area (London) were ill at a similar time and did it too. Since then, not one single person!

We have had a handful of children at school not yet return due to quarantine from travel.

Friends of ours have just finished their fortnight quarantine- they came home two days earlier than planned to ensure their quarantine ended before their dc's first day back at school.

We didn't have to as they didn't bring in quarantine until we'd been back a fortnight. Everyone else I know who travelled abroad avoided quarantine countries, or fell lucky that quarantine wasn't in place at the point of them returning.

Pluckedpencil · 03/09/2020 22:01

Us in march due to DH suspected case (tested negative but pretty sure the swab was taken too late), DSis and partner due to travel, parents due to travel, us again because we had planned to stay with parents before the quarantine was put in place for France so we also have to quarantine due to their holiday (but I don't care because at least we got to see them this year thank god)

In terms of self isolation - I know more who have, though most didn't test positive, or it happened before testing was possible for milder symptoms. As a household we did mid March as teen Dd had a persistent cough. Seems so long ago now!

My BIL is just finishing his self isolation after a track and trace situation- annoying as he never came vaguely in contact with the positive case reported where he stayed. He tested negative near the start of his T&T isolation. He's the only track and trace I know of.

I don't know many people who have definitely had CV tbh though (I mean tested positive rather than symptoms only.) My nana did afternoon a fortnight or so in hospital. She passed away but Covid wasn't the reason. We also know of an older couple (late 60s??) who were really poorly with positive Covid results, though were able to be treated at home. Then know of some who were friends of friends - none seriously enough for hospital fortunately.

One family after returning from France

Elephantday82 · 04/09/2020 10:10

None. I do know plenty of people that have returned From abroad and are supposed to be but aren’t.

UntamedWisteria · 04/09/2020 13:22

DH & I are in quarantine at the moment after returning from one of the countries recently added to the list (we had no expectation of this when we left- it's not one of the main ones). We have been sticking to it but are lucky to both work from home & have online food deliveries already sorted.

SomewhereEast · 04/09/2020 20:50

A few in March back when testing was non-existent for people with mild symptoms & we were all less sure what the symptoms were anyway.

Otherwise just two families who got caught out on hols in France. But our whole region is very light on confirmed cases, so that might be a factor!

NetballHoop · 04/09/2020 20:54

3 nieces/nephews who had to move from one European country to another had to quarantine.

Also 6 of us in our household had to isolate for 2 weeks as one needed an operation.

Pipandmum · 04/09/2020 20:58

A friend's husband's father died in Portugal so he had to go out there and quarantined on his return. My MIL is 86 and not in good health so she is still. I have a 96 year old relative and he is still staying in.

Vinoonasunnyday · 04/09/2020 21:13

No one

I know at least a dozen who didn’t quarantine after holidays who should

And most people I know (who won’t get paid) who had suggestive symptoms just carried on too - didn’t test as they didn’t feel ‘that bad’

It’s only online that you see people testing and isolating at drop of hat

In real world most people can’t afford to so go round in ignorant bliss

People generally only test if they’re worried generally about covid and I genuinely only know one person who cares about it in real life

Everyone else I know just goes about their day normally

RedCatBlueCat · 04/09/2020 21:19

Quarintine:
3 families in UK
1 in Jordan
1 in Aus
1 in NZ
Probably others.

2 weeks isolation due to symptons before testing available :3 plus us

Isolation due to test and trace: none.
