Please don’t lie to get a test

I’ve seen so many threads on here advocating lying on the form so you can get a test when you don’t have symptoms. Please don’t - it’s a waste of a valuable resource when there aren’t enough tests to go around www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-53990068

Isn’t it an offence (fraud or something) to access a public resource when you don’t meet criteria?

Maybe it isn't just the cost of the swabs but also the cost of the processing that limits number of tests?

Test and trace were really good in my experience. I had the test and my husband had two text messages and three phone calls from them until he picked up the phone.

How quickly did your results come through jonty?

The problem for nurseries is that staff are being told by the government that as they can't distance from the children they'll be ok because any child with symptoms can be tested. If that isn't in place it leaves them even more vulnerable. And it leaves nurseries more likely to have to shut.

Tested Monday, result was Wednesday

Have you actually looked at the online booking and the criteria it asks you? There’s no lying necessary, any and everyone would be able tick a box to get a test without lying, when I booked a test this did surprise me but I assumed it was because there has been a drive to get test numbers up so the government are actively encouraging people to be able to access them, that may well change once their are capacity issues

@EmilyDickinson

Thanks Billi77. Don’t feel you have to answer, I’m just curious as to how this is all working, were you ever contacted by Test and Trace?

I can see from the news today that Test and Trace is only teaching about 60% of contacts. I wonder to what extent people with positive tests get in touch with their contacts themselves and whether this should be explicitly encouraged?

I was in contact with friends who had tested positive and was added to track and trace. I was also contacted by the system with no idea who it was. Could have been a flight I took. Everyone I put on track and trace was contacted. There weren’t many as I went into Self isolation as soon as I knew I had had contact with positive cases.

I answered no to all the symptoms about 3 weeks ago and was sent a test. That seems to have changed now, the website says only test if you have the listed symptoms.

Tricky, as DD has woken up with a cold and I don't know whether she & DS should go in for their 1st day of school on Monday.

They changed the tick box criteria. I think it was last night. The criteria have been tightened. There is now no "Other" box so much more difficult to get a test.
