I tried phoning the Department of Education but they're closed. Everyone is working from home.

The Department of Education realise there is a pandemic sweeping the globe, so their staff are working from home. And before anyone says that's because of the nasty old unions, it's a bit more complicated than that. The government realise they have a duty of care to civil service workers, and if they force people to come into the office and they subsequently die or end up with long covid, the government could be sued. So why are our children being squashed into tiny classrooms?

The drive to get back to work isn't about the workers of Pret etc, it's about the landowners and property moguls who own the buildings they work in scared of loosing their rents. When industry has failed in the past the response has been very much ' things change'.....

@Teaorcake

So rather than those who can work from home to the same standard staying at home, you'd rather they went back to work for the sake of it? Surely that increases the risk of teachers coming into contact with Covid?
Government is kind of saying that...big drive to get people back to work even if they can wfh. Nuts.

Someone is obviously working at the Department of Education as they have just published some new guidance for schools. What other organisation sends out information late on a Friday night, and on a Bank Holiday weekend? They have had 6 months to sort this out.

every effing time the DfE do this! It is deliberate - just screwing up school leadership at every opportunity. They are totally out of touch with the real world working environment of schools.

Who do you actually want to speak to. If it's a Covid related enquiry then I suggest you try the Covid helpline[/quote]
I just want to report the DfE for being a load of incompetent twats actually. Never mind OFQUAL losing respect the DfE also has lost any respect.

And they got it wrong and had to change it after 2 hours, to add to their incompetence.

Just typical. Some 1600 plus in that department and since March they have demonstrated higher levels of incompetence than they ever did before. Absolutely no empathy for school staff or students ...
