One state, one private both with staff and children with confirmed cases.
Not terrifying at all.

My eldest has ASD and routine is a big thing for him. He settled in to the routine of homelearning (He has a EHCP but his school closed and then reopened for keyworker / vulnerable children in May, allowing a few more back in June) but I have no idea how he'd settle anywhere if it was all stop & start. I'm trying to prepare him for disruption whilst also trying to ensure remaining positive.

Middle child will take it in their stride.

Youngest is supposed to be starting nursery with free hours funding in September and really unsure about the best thing to do as it'll be adding that extra chance of having to isolate etc. Whilst I'm at home he doesn't 'need' to go and he has siblings for that 'interaction' but is it enough? I just don't know. I'm not worried exactly about the child catching the virus - although I'd prefer we avoided it! It's all the unsettling and unknown it causes.

Apart from that, we'll muddle on as best we can - we're following all the 'guidance' and will continue to do so.

FelicityPike Where are the nurseries? I can only find reports of the Troon one.

I'm in Scotland. The bubble thing doesn't work the way people think it does. A primary school near us had a child test positive. 'Close contacts' of that child at school (and presumably outside of school) were contacted. The whole class hasn't had to stay at home, nor did the school close for cleaning. Otherwise it would be ridiculous and the kids would be off constantly.

There are a lot more 'rules' now about when to keep a child at home, for example any cold symptoms at all and parents are recommended to keep them at home.

So the 'close contacts' had to isolate? How did they work out which children in the class were close contacts? Our classrooms are extremely small & don't allow for any distancing. In June there was a lot of outdoor learning which just won't be possible in Autumn/Winter.

Yes, 1 of our schools are saying to stay at home with any cold symptoms - even 'sniffles' according to the headteacher.

Are we going to have this everytime there is a case in a school I wonder

Depends what you mean by "this"

Closest contacts of the confirmed case sent into 14 day contact isolation, yes every time. Bubble bursting, quite possibly.

And yes, it could happen many times over in one place, and not at all in others.

Will it always lead to MN threads, probably not. Only with the first few closures whilst it dawns on people that it really can and does happen. A bit like countries moving in to the travel quarantine list. The possibility was always there, but I think quite a lot of people didn't realise it would really happen. And huge amount of commentary on first update. Less so each time. Doubt there would even be a single thread if it all changed again thus weekend.

Yeah i mean this reaction on MN about it being terrifying. I'm not sure why people thought it wouldn't happen. It's a few cases not like it is rampaging through full settings.

shitfuckoh I've no idea how they worked out who the child's close contacts were. It's not our primary school so I'm only going by what I've read in local news articles and on Facebook. I guess sending a class of 25 plus the teacher home and telling all their families and other close contacts to self isolate is considered too much, that could be hundreds of people for one case
