Face mask Scotland schools

Jeez, here we go again. No wonder people are getting fed up with this.

As of Monday pupils in secondary schools are to now wear face coverings on transport, corridors and communal areas. Everyone over 5 will have to wear them on school transport.

Not in classrooms though.

What have we been back two weeks?

I'm not objecting to the wearing of masks overall just the constant changing goal posts by the government at present.

Public Health England and the DFE are apparently in favour of English schools adopting the Scottish approach...

I'm in Scotland and I completely agree with it. I think all pupils should be strongly encouraged to wear one, and not just in corridors.

Exemptions apply and that is perfectly fine. Like someone else said, it's just bringing schools into line with shopping centres etc.

It's not a full on thick mask that's required, just a light face covering. The vast majority can breathe and talk completely fine through it and it's not needed outdoors unless extremely crowded.

Many respected studies show that even light coverings reduce a lot of transmission.

I'd be happy with temperature screening too in all schools.

I am very happy with it.

My DC wear one anyway all day and I'm glad that now they won't be in the small minority who do.

If we want to keep schools open and try to prevent outbreaks we need to accept that some small sacrifices will have to be made.

IMO all this nonsense about 'muzzles' and 'control' is wrong. Some people here are even calling children wearing masks 'child abuse' ..

The government (both UK and devolved) have realised, because of Scottish school cases, that more needs to be done to mitigate outbreaks. It's as simple as that.
