If a country that has such a hold on the virus is already closing schools we have no hope.

This is what we have to look forward to. Well no one can act surprised when our schools start closing.

Good to hear they are being decisive and proactive.
Maybe Boz will watch and learn.
Then again...

Shitfuckoh · 25/08/2020 10:16

I'm prepared for what is likely to be a disruptive term ahead.

Looking at that picture is staggering, all the children are 'distanced' in that line, masks on etc. Totally different to open the doors & let them all in which we're going back to next week.

lljkk · 25/08/2020 10:18

At least they are trying to get their schools open as normal. Like other activities, it will cycle on-off until vaccine/miracle treatment is found.

caoixr · 25/08/2020 10:45

I agree, if South Korea can’t do it, then we definitely won’t be able to! So much uncertainty.

Ickabog · 25/08/2020 10:48

Whilst i'm sorry to hear cases are rising again, I think it's great they're being proactive. I suspect our schools will be forced to carry on regardless.

I wholeheartedly agree, they will make quick decisive choices and prevent an uncontrolled outbreak. Shitfuck exactly!

Scorpio saw you managed to get a post deleted in another schools thread, and yet you post sense.

Watching the news yesterday interviewing Ireland (i think) school
1 the reporter grouped 3 kids (obv no masks) together to interview them right next to each other
2 obviously this maskless random reporter in there
3 may have been different school in uk teacher/ta person going up to kids entering school to squeeze hand gel on them! Why not a wall dispenser and directing them to it? Or free standing.

Primary (afaik) are having groups of reception kids and parents in the room. Im hoping they will change that!

Imo uk gov assumed the situation in sept would be better for a while so did guidelines based on that. It's not but we still have
Clubs running
Teachers crossing bubbles
No SD
No extra handwashing facilities even.
Allowed to bubble year groups in primary.
Siblings should have been put in parallel classes which would have teduced contacts a lot in multiple form entry

kids are even going back to old class teacher for a few days

Returning from holidays is high risk it probably should have been staggered

It would help to keep the schools open if there were clear rules for secondary. They are 1. Old enough to understand hygiene and mask wearing. 2. Old enough to stay at home for half days and learn via the internet. This would reduce class sizes.

But noooooo everyone is whining that it should go back to normal. The whole world isn't notmal at the moment and sticking your head in the sand will only cause more lockdowns or school closures.

What would your solution be then? We cannot lock down forever. The world will likely never be normal again. We need to take some chances at some point to live with it-would you prefer nobody worked or ever returned to school? Locked at home indefinitely? Nobody is whining. But some take the perspective that children are being damaged by this. They need social interaction and education? This is the future of this country and we need to protect them as a generation to give them a future

Institut Pasteur research shows we have ONE - only one - effective covid treatment/vaccine at the moment: staying at home.

Their analysis shows that the lockdown has had a major impact on the spread of SARS-CoV-2, reducing the reproduction number of the virus by 77%.

Primaries should be back - taking over local parks, halls, outdoor spaces. Outdoor waterproof gear should be on the school uniform lists. Teachers and all support staff in masks / visors.

Those who can WFH should be WFH. Despite what government seem to think, 1000s are working hard from home and productivity for them as normal.

Secondary should be online live lessons. Vulnerable in school. Teachers can host their onlines from school if no tech at home. No change to timetable or lessons, same teachers but internet. School open with tech and wifi for any secondary pupils without it.
Fornite-ly in person meet ups per class bubble, say 2 hours, like a work retreat.

100s of secondaries ran assemblies, exams, all lessons, extra curricular, charity work, fun events, school-wide initiatives via Live between March and June.
