Nursery drop offs

My dd2 returned to nursery 2 weeks ago for 1st time since March. So proud of her settling back so quickly. Like other nurseries now, drop off is at door with manager. Parents cannot see keyworker or other staff who care for children all day, or see their room, or what they are doing at collection time. I get it. I really do and my dd is fine. But it just doesn't sit quite right that we can't see our child in their care setting at all. Cant imagine if this was a child just starting nursery for 1st time. Not criticising nursery, just wondering what others' thoughts are x

I see why they are doing it but yes lack of info isn’t ideal.
Our nursery called today as my youngest was so unsettled and they let me go there and go into the baby room to see him... luckily I wasn’t at work!!

@OverTheRainbow88 so glad they were flexible enough to let you in. Hope he settles soon x

My 18 month old had to start at nursery during lockdown as my childminder unexpectedly quit, and as key workers we needed some childcare provision.
I’ve never been past the front door of the building, don’t know who his key worker is etc, but he’s happy so I’m surprisingly ok with it as needs must. I hope to be able to have a look around and meet the staff at some point though!

I find it hard too, it feels unnatural. Luckily my son is 3, so he can tell me what's what. My baby will start there in Jan when I go back to work, and she will have never been in the building. I've started taking her when I pick up my son so she gets used to the doorway. :-/ Not sure what else to do! Hopefully it will go back to normal as soon as it can.

Yeah it's the reason I'm not sending my 18 month old to nursery any time soon (I'm lucky to be able to make that call, of course). She's VERY slow to warm up, but fine once familiarity has set it, so I don't want to put her or I through that process.

I havent really given it much thought to be honest, but my DD has been in the nursery since last October. She is very happy to go in, which is my main, and probably only, concern. I see pictures of some of the things she does through her care diary online and they include details of her sleeping, eating etc. I know why they keep people out. It is what is it unfortunately.

DS 13MO has just started. We were allowed into the office for intro meeting with manager and key worker and could view him on their camera. I don’t know if this was actually better than me being there and possibly cling to, I’ve nothing to compare! He just got on with it anyway!

At drop off the manager calls up to the room and usually his key worker comes down to get him and take him up, then at drop off we wait outside and keyworker brings him down to us. They update on the app about what he’s been doing and what he’s eaten, how many naps and nappies and they put at least one photo up each day. Luckily he’s settled really well so I guess I’m happy enough and they’re obviously really doing their best. I’ve seen the baby room on the tour pre-Covid but DH has never seen it in the flesh. I don’t know how these outside hand overs will be in winter!

Do they not upload to tapestry or similar?
