Anybody got any good ideas as to how we beat/deal with this going forward?

I'm suggesting...
Why don't they send all the 20-50 age group back into society (minus those with conditions/anxiety). In theory, if they catch it, it will likely be more like a bad cold and it seems many are happy to be shoulder to shoulder in pubs etc. They will be injecting money into the economy and building up herd immunity but the NHS could cope with the low numbers that would need help in hospital.. They would be able to see older family members with masks/distancing. Meanwhile, 50+ can work from home where possible, and after a period when the virus has gone through 20-50 age group, they could also return to work. Vulnerables will have to stay close to home/mask up until vaccine/treatment arrives.

Presumably young students belong in the main to the 20-50 age group anyway.

I should also point out at the one of the measures for 'protecting the vulnerable' involved locking patients with dementia into their room and denying them contact with family/familiar people. In normal times that would be considered severe abuse. Research has shown that many deaths in people with dementia were not due to illness but essentially due to them giving up, stopping drinking and eating because they were so upset and confused. Meanwhile, children were sitting at home for months because everyone was so shit scared of one virus. It's just utterly utterly beyond all madness, to kill older people via neglect and to deny children education in the name of 'protecting the vulnerable.'

I think we should look at how to make education work really well on line, especially for secondary and college students. We should go to the best schools and colleges and the uk, and sort out online seminars and lectures. No reason why Cambridge lectures couldn't be viewed elsewhere in the UK (and pay the University). Put energy into how best to manage tutor groups.

We need really good IT education, this sector is going to be key post covid.

We need a shift of focus. We need services that will make our homes nicer places over the next 2 years, we are going to spend a lot of time in them.

Guess it's not a great suggestion afterall.

I thought it might get us closer to an end point quicker than how it's working now and supporting the economy better than it is now. Truth is, there's not a brilliant exit strategy from this, is there? but we can consider other ways of doing it.
And, to be fair to myself, I did say over 50s where possible to work from home.

Anyone got any other suggestions?
