Would this have constituted as an illegal gathering?

Last evening there was a music event in a local park. The band was a visiting professional band. Around 200 people attended the event which was organised by a local church.
The church have a health and safety inspector who carried out a full risk assessment of the event and site.
I have been considering this and I am not sure it fully complies with current government guidance.
I have read that all outdoor events need to be electronically ticketed to help with track and Trace.
There were no tickets. No names and address were gathered. It does appear from pictures I have seen that social distancing on the most part was adhered to. There were stewards to help ensure social distancing. There doesnt appear to have been any signage.

Are events like this compliant?
I'm only asking as I didn't go as I felt it wasnt and I'm now wandering if I over reacted and could have attended. Thank you.

I thought gatherings of over 30 were banned.

Yes this was something else I thought. We attended another event previously which was a drive in event and had the electronic tickets. I know of many similar drive in events a(circus and cinemas) and as everyone stays in their cars I'm led to believe that this is ok. But this people were sat on deckchairs and picnic chairs on the green and had left their cars in the car park.

The risks were probably low as it was outside (though I am not sure what current thought is on playing instruments) and I guess if everyone was spaced then the risks were no higher than elsewhere.

I am surprised the local council have permission, but I guess without tickets it could just be explained as lots of people happening to be in the same place rather than an event. (Not that that makes it right, but is perhaps a loophole)

There’s a funfair in my local park this week so ...
God knows what the rules are , I’m pretty sure he is the only one at the minute !

This
As the rules stand (in England, anyway) groups of over 30 are banned as far as I know unless they've recently changed

Is this technically a group though? It’s a number of people in the same place but not actually together. Not much different to lots of people being in a park surely?

This

When pubs first opened, people said pubs were only allowed 30 in which wasn't true.

Separate groups of people attending same event

Gigs are starting to go ahead.. this was Sam Fender. I’m really keen for gigs to always be like this, looks ideal 😂

Also, if everyone was socially distancing & outdoors, there’d be no need for track & trace really as it’s close contact (less than 1m) for 15+ minutes.

Would this have constituted as an illegal gathering?
Bol87 · 18/08/2020 15:51

*although, clearly the groups in each stand are not all from the same households & not remotely distanced.. not sure how they got away with that one..

Ooh gigs without people squashing you where you can have a seat sounds lovely. Must be getting old 😀
