Do you think this will become a thing anytime soon?

I'm up and down all the time in the office - to the printer, to the kitchen, to speak to colleagues....surely having to put a mask on and take it off every few minutes is hardly the safest approach......

Which is where hand washing and alcohol gel come in. And putting on and taking off the right way

Spare a thought for driving instructors who have to wear them all day!

Your colleagues would have to be heartless shits of the highest order to refuse to take the precautions that make a workplace Covid safe, this removing your income

Judging by the number of mask refusers on numerous threads, there are a lot of heartless so hits around 😢

I’m in another country and they’re compulsory here. It’s not really a big deal once you get used to it.

The social distancing thing doesn’t really help in enclosed environments - as those airflow studies in restaurants have shown. Masks are much more important indoors than distancing, especially when you are cooped up with the same person/people all day and the air is circulating around the room in currents.

I am a teacher and will only wear one on duty and in staff meetings.

We're mask free and desks spaced out but the rules changed as of 8th Aug that visitors to premises providing professional services (lawyers etc.) must wear them. So anyone arriving without is offered one at the door. Medical exemptions excepted obviously.

It depends on the job.

Why the hell should I have to (hypothetically) sit in a mask all day in an open plan office when i can do the exact same job from the comfort of my own home? Makes no sense at all.

Our Head of Support Services will be stuffed if it becomes mandatory in offices as she relies heavily on lip reading.

kevinbacone · 18/08/2020 17:53

Our office is not back until 7 Sept and only 20% of staff at that point, growing to 50% by Christmas if all is well. We have to wear masks all the time.

Madness

@Sailingblue

I really can’t see the point of socially distances offices. Why not just stay working at home? Socially distanced- mask wearing offices seem even more pointless to me.
Because I hated working from home - I was struggling to motivate myself, felt less productive, was very lonely, was in tears at my laptop at least a couple of times a week and couldn't cope with living at work any longer - my mental health was shit. Just being able to leave home to walk to work every day, to work in an office environment rather than in my lounge, has massively improved how I feel mentally. There are only a handful of others from my team in our offices, and so most meetings are still on Teams, but it's still so much better for me than wfh.
