Test and trace question - for those who have been called

If you have tested positive for Coronavirus and then test and trace have called you, how long do they go back on your movements to trace your contacts?
I have just read on another thread 48 hours - is that correct?

Someone at work had to give an “idea” of her movements for the previous 5 days, but they were very keen to know everywhere she’d been in the last 72 hours and who with.

That was June time, so no idea if it’s still the case - and thankfully I hadn’t seen her, so didn’t get the call!

Thank you, interesting. Anyone else?

Place marking as I'm being tested and wonder what colleagues will be informed if I am positive.I was off 2 days previously to symptoms.

Justanswer · 16/08/2020 12:03

Back 48hrs from start of symptoms to find contacts.. then will be asked about previous 3-7 days to see where infection may have been caught..in case of any places or events that might be implicated

In Scotland, 48 hours prior to symptom onset or 48 prior to test if asymptomatic. So if you had a test 3 days after developing symptoms yes you would go back 5 days but everyone should be able to get a test quite quickly now

Thank you.
So we saw family member on Sunday.
She was tested on Thursday - asymptomatic.
Positive result. No call from t&t to her (or therefore us)
We have isolated since result but now wondering if we should be?
Would t&t call us (if they were to actually bother calling the positive person in the first place?)

I think it’s unlikely you being asked to isolate due to the length of time between your contact and the positive test. That said it may be sensible to be vigilant on hand hygiene etc and if possible avoid anyone classed as vulnerable. As your friend was asymptomatic there’s no way of knowing when she first developed the infection. But you won’t be officially asked to self isolate. Why did the friend have a test, out of interest?

@Justanswer thanks. Agree re vulnerable people. Should my child be going to nursery? I believe legally, yes. Morally, no?
She was going into hospital for a procedure and they tested.

@123456kent
That’s a difficult one..legally yes..if you wanted to be very cautious then you could keep her away..I think there will be lots of these dilemmas going forwards
