Why was France chosen for quarantine?

Apparently the rule is that if a country has more than 20 cases per 100,000 then people who travel from there have to quarantine. But according to www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/cases-2019-ncov-eueea that includes:

Poland
Portugal
Czechia
Denmark
Croatia
Iceland
Cyprus

all which are apparently ok to travel back from but have more than 20 cases per 100,000.

Why?

I 100% will not hold it against my kids teachers if they end up quarantined. They are human and needed a break as much- probably more - as any of us.

I need a holiday too. I'm a single mum with no support network, I've worked non stop from home since March alongside home schooling both my children. I don't think teachers are any more deserving of a holiday than I am.

Political reasons as stated above by Bojo and his cronies.
Same for Spain. And a little reminder to the Euro zone during Brexit talks that “you need us more than we need you” so don’t forget it.

Same for northern restrictions sadly.
All political.

Should they have even gone considering this was on the cards?

Can you remember @worriedandannoyed when the government was actively encouraging us to go on holiday and go abroad? In the same way they’re doing now with bribes to eat out etc

That’s why teachers and others dared to do it.

YgritteSnow · 16/08/2020 16:22

They've probably refused to back down on something to do with Brexit so this is their passive aggressive "punishment".

Yes I can remember. But surely any person who's capable of basic reasoning skills would realise da it was a risk. Especially when people coming back from Spain were told to quarantine a long time ago, I'm sure they could see it coming. Anyone going on holiday should have been checking the daily graphs for the country they are visiting and seen the cases rising. I've lost money in my flights but my children won't be missing any more school which is way more important.

We’re all different worriedandannoyed

We’ll still go. We booked. I’m more worried about schools going back and am therefore happy for my kids to miss the beginning. It gives us more thinking time.

Yes I appreciate that. I hope you enjoy your holiday 😀

I just would be very annoyed if my children's teacher had decided to go and risk the first few weeks of term. Children have so many changes to get used to as it is
