Scottish Mums. How has the first week in school been?

Just wondered how parents and children in Scotland feel the return to school has gone?
If you were apprehensive beforehand, are you now more relaxed or even more anxious?
How have the children dealt with any changes the school has put in place?

My DC went back in June although there was only around 7 or 8 in each of their classes/bubbles. They loved it absolutely no regrets sending them back but I'm aware it will be different again come September.

My 2, secondary, have said it's been fine although there is a lot more walking as they have a one way system round the school.
They haven't really done any learning, by the sounds of it this week seems to be more about setting in and ensuring everyone is ok.

Someone up thread said there should be no assemblies (sorry, I don't know how to link). I thought it was strange that ds had an assembly. It wasn't a whole school assembly but it doesn't sound like there was social distancing either. Because he's only S1, I'd hoped he'd be in class with the same people all the time and therefore be in a bubble. It seems not though. He is loving it all though and as it's a new school, the small changes don't affect him because everything is new anyway. I give it a few weeks and then they'll be back to blended learning as numbers rise.

Brilliant. They are all SO pleased to be back.

All three at secondary school, they have taken sensible, easy to implement precautions such as not having them all go in/out the same door, splitting lunchtimes and breaks. Children are asked to sanitise their hands when arriving in a classroom, at the end of the lesson the teacher comes round and sprays the desks and they wipe them down before leaving. No sharing equipment.

We had an email last night from the Head saying how well everyone had adapted and how they were pleased that everyone was complying with the hand-washing.

I give it a few weeks and then they'll be back to blended learning as numbers rise.

Won't happen - there's an election next May and blended learning - which is really part time school - is a massive vote loser for the SNP. They'll close pubs/restaurants again before schools.

It was me. We were told specifically no assemblies or gatherings. My ds is in S1. I think they did meet together to be issues their timetable etc but it was split between 2 halls and apart from that, no idea how it was set up. They cant have gatherings though so no idea how they got round it.

it may be an election loser if the risks are too high. There are no guarantees.
