I've just been sent this ( from Facebook) and I've tried to find an explanation online but I can't.

Has it been taken out of context or is it true?

Could someone explain this to me please?

Who posted it? The article is dated March.

BeeTrees · 14/08/2020 11:28

Apart from it seems like a rubbish cut and paste, surely it just means that if a kid develops a temperature or symptoms in school they take them to a separate Designated room to isolate from others until they can get hold of you to remove them from school.

Last time I checked our schools don’t have instant lab facilities or finger prick tests, and if your child has had a test and waiting for the results they shouldn’t be in school!

scaevola · 14/08/2020 11:31

It's a very bad garble.

Pupils who are symptomatic in school must be put in isolation until they can be picked up. They need to be tested before they return to school.

Schools may have a small number of test kits on site, which they could - if they choose - offer to use on a pupil onsite. But it's much more likely parents will need to arrange a test themselves.

If they do not want their DC tested, then they will have to do the full 10 day home isolation. No one will be testing DC without parental consent, unless in truly exceptional circumstances, and falling ill during the school day is far, far short of that.

Freddiefox · 14/08/2020 11:31

How are they getting the results back? They aren’t instant, it would be better to take your child to a drive through testing centre than test them in a school. It would be much quicker.

SabrinaTheTeenageBitch · 14/08/2020 11:33

Oh fucking hell, as if the decisions parents have to make right now aren't stressful enough people are sending nonsense like this around. I despair

Rest assured OP this will be at best totally taken out of context (as PP said probably related to child being isolated in a room with member of staff until parents collect) or at worse completely made up to create fear for what reason Im not sure. Please don't worry

Carpathian2 · 14/08/2020 11:34

Thanks everyone, I did think it was bollocks!
That'll teach me to read Facebook crap 🤦🏼‍♀️

There was a thread about this yesterday, but with a different screenshot which was even more ridiculous. This page should put your mind at rest: fullfact.org/online/children-coronavirus-act/

userabcname · 14/08/2020 11:45

It's utter bollocks. If your child shows symptoms of covid they will be put in "isolation" at school (most likely the first aid room) and you will be contacted to collect them asap. That's all.

Chaosalways · 14/08/2020 11:46

Load of bollox.

irwellmummy · 14/08/2020 11:50

I saw a similar post yesterday that said headteachers will send children away to a coronavirus isolation centre without their parents and this would be for 14 days. They have taken the legislation about certain ‘looked after’ children and twisted it into something to scare parents. Totally false

Kaykay066 · 14/08/2020 11:50

Can’t believe anyone would think that’s true
Who do you think would be doing the testing the head teacher? The janitor? In full ppe which they’ve been trained to don and diff correctly and then trained to swab? and there is this secure place they would be taken off to? Garbage

Do not believe anything you read on Facebook, it’s like the one saying kids would be in hospital alone no parent etc etc did a lot of damage early on as parents were scared to bring their kids if they were ill And we had quite sick kids coming in (non Covid) because of this and parents had to be told to bring kids in or seek help of kids were sick.

Yellowbutterfly1 · 14/08/2020 11:52

If you have a read of this document, as far as I can tell, it’s true.

Could someone explain this to me please?
Carpathian2 · 14/08/2020 11:56

I immediately thought it wasn't true, so googled it and found so much info I didn't know where to start to look.

Thankyou everyone for clarifying for me.

So just been thinking about this , isnt this just a common sense thing so not sure about testing as im sure all schools r not going to have testing facilities and tests results straight away but if u have a child showing symptoms would u prefer them to be put into a crowded classroom? Dont schools have sick rooms or something so if a child is ill about to be away from everyone untill parents called? What weird about that? Honestly disinformation or scaremongering on social media is like the most fustrating thing for me and so dangerous

Carpathian2 · 14/08/2020 11:59

@Duggeehugs82

I couldn't agree more about social media. My son ( adult) sent it to me, now he's off making himself another tin hat ...........

"Taken to a secure room"..... what like a first aid room or like a prison cell! Honestly makes me so mad
