Mild long haul?

newyeardelurker · 11/08/2020 22:56

I've had recurrent possible mild Covid symptoms for three months now. I'm lucky that I can work from home and have worked throughout.

I know asking a bunch of randoms on the internet won't diagnose, but just wondering if anyone else has similar experiences.

I've had mostly a nasty sore throat, earache, mild cough / upper chest infection. Temperature rarely. Will have for a week then fine for a bit then it's back.

Odd things. Tight chest at times. Feels like some damage at the back of one lung. Gets worse around 4/5pm.

Tested negative twice, am very conscientious about keeping isolated. Despite that I may have passed whatever-i-have to a relative whilst socially distanced in a park. Their test was lost.

I've just started another, even milder, bout. Slight cough, chest infection in same area. Throat a bit lumpy. I can't see much point in testing again, I had the negatives wheh worse.

As above just interested if anyone's had a similar experience of mild long haul symptoms. Thanks 😌

Covid lungs longterm 18+ weeks thread there are lots experiencing the same.

Hi thanks Kitcat I've read the 18+ thread on and off and the posters there have much more serious symptoms. I'm looking to understand whether there are others who've not been ill as such, but can't shake it.

I’m the same, on and off since April. I’m just feeling better after yet another fortnight of sore throat, phlegm on chest, exhaustion, upper backache, plus a banging headache, loss of appetite and two days of extreme nausea. I’ve never had a test, I called 119 two weeks ago and they wouldn’t book me in because I didn’t have the 3 main symptoms. I have no idea. I’ve felt fairly ropey but not incapacitated except for a fair few afternoon naps. I’d get an antibody test if I knew which one.

BMJ article on long covid, which might be of interest?

Mypersona sorry to hear you're going through this. I had my tests because I logged symptoms on the Zoe Covid app and they asked me to be tested, but it hasn't helped much having the negative results. They were good to get at the time but I can't think what else this might be.

Low level symptoms like you describe sounds fairly normal to me. Could be things like hay fever, vitamin deficiency, stress, perimenopause etc I find there are points in my cycle I always feel a bit under the weather like this. I've also been diagnosed recently with low vit d which explains tiredness and breathlessness too.
Or it could be a version of COVID we don't know about of course. Can't rule it out as we don't know everything.

DH & I had a long lasting cough in February after he caught a lurgy from someone coughing and sneezing on a train journey from London. Neither of us thought it was Covid as we only felt mildly unwell (just like a regular cold). Although we did have mild sore throats for weeks afterwards too.

Since then, I’ve had the occasional tightness in my chest, or a bit of tiredness, but nothing unusual for my age (50s).

For the last month, I’ve noticed I’m losing more hair than usual. I’m blessed with long, thin but full hair, so I wasn’t too worried and put down to age, stress and hot weather. Now that this is being reported as another bi-product of Covid, I’m wondering if I’m in the same category as the OP, having really mild symptoms over a very long period.

Yes I have exactly the same but even milder (no temperature, only very slightly sore throat). Also lasted for months. it's hard to say whether it's ongoing covid effects or just seasonal allergies, which seem to have been particularly bad this year - perhaps because there hasn't been as much grass cutting as usual in public spaces.

Thanks all, in the cold light of day I'm grateful that this is my biggest problem at the moment - things are much worse for lots of people. I'm 49 so Peri could be part of it too. Was just hacked off last night to have yet another bout starting. Will try the vit D suggestion.

If you think it could be vit d, it would be worth speaking to the dr. The dose I've been given is absolutely massive. Once a month for 3 months and I think I worked out it's about a years worth, per tablet! I was surprised as I spend lots of time outdoors, but I guess it's depleted from pregnancy and breastfeeding too. Another of my main symptoms was achy joints, feeling like I was about 80 sometimes, if that's resonates.

MyPersona · 12/08/2020 14:54

Well I’m past menopause and already on high vitamin D supplements because I was deficient. I’ve never had hay fever or any other allergies before.

PurplePi · 12/08/2020 15:24

I'm also postmenopausal. I started taking Vitamin D supplements 3 months ago. I've had my regular hay fever symptoms this year, which I've managed with Piriton as usual. The other symptoms are different - but they're just so mild compared with everyone else's, but they've been irritatingly hanging around/resurfacing for months.

Try vit C too for chest issues.
i wonder if i ended up low on vit D as bf for about 4.5y altogether.
