Halloween

I've thought about Christmas and how it might be affected, but it only just struck me tonight. Halloween can't happen, can it?

Was just thinking the same thing, sad, I love Hallowe'en.

If you mean kids going round bothering households for sweets, no.

Halloween won't change in my house. I always do a party for my DC and as a single mum I'm allowed a bubble - the only people I'd invite are in my bubble so all good 🎃

As a huge fan of Halloween, this has been a concern of mine for a while! Typical it falls on a Saturday this year too 🙄

No I can't see how it can go ahead. Where I live people really go for it, it's brilliant. We missed it last year as my DC had HF&M. We still put out a pumpkin and a tub of sweets and sat on our doorstep at a safe distance so we were in the spirit of it a bit, but this year I don't think allowing lots of little hands to rummage through sweets would be a good idea. It's on a Saturday this year as well.

Our council run a fantastic bonfire and fireworks display which they have cancelled.

I've wondered this. Kids have already had Easter taken away, it's not fair for Halloween to not happen either. Fingers crossed for a warm half term as know many attractions hold Halloween events.

No no Halloween, no bonfire night and no Christmas very worrying in terms of how we manage going forward humans are meant to come together long term social distancing doesn’t seems sustainable!

onedayinthefuture That could be a solution, getting dressed up and going to a zoo or something similar. Good thinking.

@nellodee that's what me and my friends do with the kids. Usually there's a farm where you can go pumpkin picking etc and the they love getting dressed up.

Not trick or treating no. Whilst I don't mind I would be mindful that it would make many people feel uneasy at best and scared at worst.

Yes, love Halloween and even worse it's a Saturday which could have been a corker. I reckon there will be many many places just cracking on with trick or treating though.....unless the government specifically say it's banned!

We'll do a trip out somewhere for a spooky trail or something and then a spooky tea and scavenger hunt round the house in the dark for sweets. It'll be fine. I'm gutted about bonfire night though as you can't recreate that at home!

It's going to be a dull autumn into festive season I think 🙁

Yes, no panto or Christmas shows, no carol concerts or Christmas markets...so sad.

I think people will still trick or treat. It’s outdoors after all!

Totally agree. I think many people round here wI’ll decorate their houses as usual and decorations = game on for T&T

It's my birthday on Halloween and it's a bloody Saturday Although I will probably have a little party for the kids and maybe a few gins

I was thinking about this too. My daughter is 3, so too young to go trick or treating but she's loves all the kids coming to the house and helping dish out sweets.

Well still get dressed up and decorate the house and I'm sure find some fun things to do.

Halloween will be different that's for sure. Maybe it could be more like a scarecrow festival, house decorations could be admired from afar

I usually go to town on decorating the front garden like a spooky graveyard, but I think we'll do the decorations indoors only this year.

Oooh. I could decorate up the back garden and then do a spooky lamplit barbecue with hotdogs... throw in some sparklers and just mishmash the do-able bits of halloween and bonfire night together.

The people where I live will likely ignore the fact that CV even exists and still attempt trick or treating. I will likely have a big sign telling them not to knock (which they will probably ignore) and I will have to ignore them and their incessant knocking...
