Christmas

We live in Europe and usually see our family every 2-3 months. Obviously, this year it hasn't happened and we are all very very sad about that, but it is what it is and we are all healthy so no grumbling. We have cancelled 4 different sets of pre-COVID arranged plans so far.

We had planned to drive over at Christmas and with today's headlines, we are on the possible quarantine country list.

I just feel so deflated. I know it's first world problems, but I really really miss my family and was so looking forward to spending Christmas together, and now it looks like that can be threatened.

Poor you, that does all sound so disappointing.

Is it the type of place that you might be able to sort out a last minute booking? And nip over when you can? (Catching the breaks in the storm IYSWIM)

Feeling for you, vegan. It's really difficult for family who are separated.

Our tiny Christmas celebration actually involves 4 households. So under current rules it won't be happening. I'm buggered if I'm having Christmas dinner in the garden.

Oh it's just horrid, isn't it? I am sorry you might also be affected @MereDintofPandiculation

Sadly not so easy, it's a 1,400k drive and only two (easyJet) flights a week. We had planned to drive this Christmas to avoid airports, and DM and DF are nervous about flying, so don't want them to do anything they feel uncomfortable with. DSis and I are both teachers so quarantines are a bit tricky.

Oh well, at least there is Whatsapp videos...

I’m dreading Christmas. I’m from such a big family as from as young as me being 3-4 years old we have always had a really big family Christmas.

Our currently family Christmas would comprise of 7 different households so I’m prepared for the fact that it won’t happen this year.

Both my grandparents are in their mid-late eighties with various health problems and I know that this could be their Christmas and it saddens me so much to think it won’t be the wonderful family celebration it usually is Sad

Same as PP, we have christmas holidays comprised of five different families which is hosted at my parents house, about twenty of us in total from 1-67 yo. Can't see it happening this year Sad
