Work at Mcdonalds. Small place. Hardly no social distancing going on by customers, the tables are so close together it's a joke so people who aren't in the same bubble are sitting right next to each other. We allow 4 in to wait for takeaway which is fine. Its mainly when people are sat down it gets too many then they walk around and get everywhere. Have to be very strict at the door a lot of exempt not wearing sunflower lanyards (forgetting them or just haven't got one). Some people get annoyed even angry if food or drink items aren't available, or if asked to wear a mask. We cannot enforce the masks but we prefer mask wearing unless exempt. In the kitchen we have these plastic screens up, but what's the point, we are still literally skin on skin trying to get past each other! This can sometimes very nearly happen with customers as well as to get past customers sometimes you have to squeeze past them to get through the walkway. Today was 50% off so the whole of the town basically turned up. Yes it helps to give money back to the company. However it doesn't really stop the spread or Covid 19 does it? I do sanitise my hands, I wear a mask, I wear gloves when needed and wash hands when needed and try not to touch my mask or face. I feel like I'm going to get Covid 19 soon and there's no point talking to the business manager or any of them to be honest and we don't have a union. Whilst I'm greatful for a job, I don't feel safe and I have been applying for jobs for a long time, even recently did up my CV. There have been times I've cried or hyperventilated and cried because it gets so overwhelming. I don't want to take this virus home.

How old are you and do you have any health conditions that make you particularly vulnerable? Or do family members?

Try not to panic too much, you're washing / sanitizing hands regularly. Ask for extra uniform so you can wash them more regular too. Undress fully as soon as you get home and into clean clothing, leave shoes at the doorway.

Finally you do not have to serve anyone who is abusive to you.

Kind wishes from an ex-Maccys employee (it was my first job many moons ago so i feel your pain!)

I'm so sorry you're going through this. There are so many dickheads out there who you give an inch to and they take several miles. If I were bringing my niece's and nephews to your branch for a treat I'd observe distancing and mask wearing very carefully. Only so many times you can tell stupid customers, this pandemic is not done! Be more careful! I ended up in Wilko today choosing loads of bulbs for the garden for next year. I had a mask on the whole time and hand gel in my pocket which I used frequently. It's just not that hard to be aware Hmm

It's these huge companies that don't give a shit a lot of the time.

Table service should be very limited at the moment in takeaway places like Mcdonalds. It's not like it's a relaxed environment of a restaurant where you're seated to a table by the staff. And frankly a lot of the customers at Mcdonalds are unruly at the best of times.

There are over 60 million people in Britain. 8 people died of covid today. The wards are empty of covid patients.

Get some perspective.

I got stopped outside McDonald's last week refused entry because I didn't have a mask (as we were eating in i didn't realise it applied -my mistake, I think I was over excited about a half price happy meal Grin) anyway it didn't matter because I had some in the car and we went in, there was reduced seating capacity some seats and tables sealed off to ensure SD shouldn't all the establishments be the same

I'm just so sick of working at Mcdonalds I'm not appreciated that much- I have been there over a year and never once been employee of the month, rarely get a shout out on our private group and I work bloody hard and I don't know what more I can do. It's not my first job, I'm 28 this year and for me it was a way of getting back into work after I was on universal credit after not passing probation at a previous job. Universal credit got me into debt as I took out two loans (not payday). Today I was so busy the shift took ages and it triggered my restless leg syndrome off and my feet were agony even with insoles and having worn them for a few shifts. I'm so unhappy at this job. Please don't get me wrong, I am so privileged to have a job and get a wage, and working at mcdonalds has nearly got me out of my debt now. I wouldn't quit unless I got something better where I Know I could pass probation. I suffer with anxiety and work are okay with this but I have faced some discrimination and one time I was literally forced to face my fear which backfired massively. Its very hit and miss for me. Often I think I will always be a number in this company and never get another job. I'm trying so hard here. I've done 3 shifts in a row and 4 more to go. All early shifts.

What a totally patronising comment! Not everyone who enjoys a big mac is a chav, thugs or dregs of society Shock

You can never know this though can you? Try and have a bit more confidence in yourself. Id start looking for another job. Worst case scenario you can always go back to McDonald's IIRC they were always ok about people returning as it was often a 'stop gap' job for people to begin with.

I don't know the figures or have a clue anymore last I knew was we had to not let bowling etc happen for awhile longer due to a rise.
