Self isolation for travellers coming in to the UK

I have tried to look this information up on the Gov.uk website but I can’t seem to find any information around. Hoping there’ll be some definitive answers (of where to find this information from) in Mumsnet. Have a friend travelling from one of the countries in the quarantine list who wants to self isolate in my house. I agreed at first without a thought, but now I am wondering if this is against the rules. Surely if she’s in quarantine/ self isolation it can’t be at anyone’s house, I.e at mine? If she does then does that mean I have to self isolate too with her as I might pose as a risk going out just in case she gives it to me? I am really struggling to find a definite answer to this. Please can some help? Thank you in advance.

Yes yoi can, you just have to give an address, hopefully they don’t have Covid or you will all have to self isolate

If she is self isolating in your house you have to self isolate as well. That’s the point.

Not true.

Gov uk website says opposite. Quote:

The people you’re staying with do not need to self-isolate, unless they travelled with you or you develop symptoms of coronavirus.

Same as any other self isolation of a family member. You would only need to isolate if you developed symptoms.

That’s exactly the information I was looking for, which the government website has clarified. And it states that the host family don’t need to isolate unless we start showing symptoms. And like you state ‘that’s the point’ it really isn’t. Thank you.
