We had CoVid and lockdown. But for the last 5 weeks or so we've been back to normal. Only because the border is shut. AMA.

I am not sure what there is to ask given you are going about your business as normal. I am assuming you are in NZ?

DebLou47 · 04/08/2020 15:01

What no SD etc?

LucyLocketsPocket · 04/08/2020 15:02

Is the closed border having much impact on your economy?

Staplemaple · 04/08/2020 15:02

Is your country going to remain closed until a vaccine? If so, do you see any issues with that?

Strokethefurrywall · 04/08/2020 15:02

Are you on a tiny island in the Caribbean Op? Because if you are, I'm here too.

Lockdown has eased, only masks are required when entering any business and moving around in the office.

Loving the freedom right now but appreciate it may all change when borders open in September.

Crumpets111 · 04/08/2020 15:04

Do you live in a cave ?

PuppyMonkey · 04/08/2020 15:06

Back to normal but your borders are shut? Grin

mosquitofeast · 04/08/2020 15:09

Can you tell us where you are?

mosquitofeast · 04/08/2020 15:09

Can we come and live there with you?

Kiwiz · 04/08/2020 15:10

Is it BVI?

olivo · 04/08/2020 15:13

Are you in Guernsey?

PersonManWomancameraTVAgain · 04/08/2020 15:46

Isle of Man. It's weird how quickly (apart from the borders) everything has gone back to normal. There's no social distancing, masks or shielding. WFH has almost completely stopped. All businesses back open.

All the big changes people said might happen as a result of lockdown haven't really happened.

CoVid will come back here as people are still going on and off Island, albeit in a controlled manner.

The borders are opening up now, in fact essential travel has been allowed - but you had to apply for a travel certificate and only certain people allowed in for essential roles, essential medical travel and - after a while - people returning to the Island.

How will you be unaffected when your tourist industry crashes?

EmMac7 · 04/08/2020 15:59

Enjoy it while it lasts if your border’s opening up again...

Sofasogood1 · 04/08/2020 16:07

Doesn't sound very normal. Didn't someone get a £3000 fine for coming over from Jersey and then going to the barbershop? Might have been Guernsey actually

goodmorningphil · 04/08/2020 16:09

May I ask why you write it CoVid (with a capital v)? Just purely wondering, I've not seen it written that way before.

BlackberrySky · 04/08/2020 16:14

What's the plan for children who go to school on the mainland? Will the borders be open by then do you think?

labyrinthloafer · 04/08/2020 16:17

Two questions form me:

What's the plan for tourists going forwards?

Are people worried about the economy/jobs, or does it seem ok?

Rassy · 04/08/2020 16:20

My mum and dad live on the island but I can't come and visit yet without self quarantining for two weeks on the island, before I even see them...

You do all need to make the most of your current strong position and hopefully keep the island Covid free.

LunaMay · 04/08/2020 16:22

South Aussie here. We thought we were free, now 8 new cases and tighter restrictions again. Don't get me started on Victoria! I'm surprised you stopped social distancing though.

Thinkingg · 04/08/2020 16:24

I'm jealous! Would much prefer to live a normal life locally without travel, than have open borders and social distancing.

Sofasogood1 · 04/08/2020 16:32

Like Rassy I want to visit family on one of the islands but can't due to quarantine rules. Unsustainable for the islands.

Strokethefurrywall · 04/08/2020 16:47

I'm in Cayman Islands and we're Covid free too, but our economy is taking a big hit. Sure the larger financial institutions continue to do well but local tourism is decimated, and were unlikely to see a return of any cruise ships (thank goodness).

That being said, we will open very slowly to international travelers (not the US) provided they have negative Covid tests and self isolate for 14 days once here in a government facility or 5 days in residence of their choice provided they wear a bio button for tracking purposes.

lljkk · 04/08/2020 17:09

It's super nice to hear your community reverted easily to 'normalcy' OP. Let's hope that happens everywhere at right time.

karmasic · 04/08/2020 18:34

You couldn't pay me all the money in the world to live on the Isle of Man, but I'm happy you're Covid free on there op.

Is there no impact on the economy?

I wonder why some opportunities like increased WFH which I see as a good thing - at least part time - to reduce carbon & give workers more leisure time have not been embraced?
