Self-isolation before planned c-section

As per the title! Who has had to self-isolate before having a planned c-section? My sister-in-law (who is a nurse) mentioned it to me and now I'm worried, although no mention by the obstetrician yet (I'm 35 weeks)! If I have to then clearly I will but I am worried about the disruption to my 22 month old daughter of being taken out of nursery (she goes 3 days per week) AND having a new sibling. Plus the obvious exhaustion of being heavily pregnant and looking after a VERY active and strong-willed toddler and having to juggle childcare and working for one of those weeks (I'm working up until 38 weeks). Ugh, I wish this coronavirus would go away!!

I had mine a couple of months ago and I didn’t have to self-isolate. I did need to have a covid swab the day before though.

Best of luck with the new baby Flowers

I had mine four weeks ago and didn't have to. I did have to go for a covid test a couple of days before though. Every trust will have different rules, are you on any local FB pregnancy/parenting groups you could ask?

Thank you for the replies - fingers crossed then.

@MindyStClaire good point - I will post something 😊

I had a section a few weeks ago and was told to isolate after my covid swab. That was on the Sunday and my section on the Tuesday, so not a big deal.

I'm booked for a c section next week. I haven't been told to self isolate, but I am being very careful anyway. I have to have a covid test the day before I go in for surgery and if I test positive then my husband won't be able to come to the birth...

No idea why your daughter is going to nursery when women in the third trimester are at increased risk. To each their own.

Because being heavily pregnant, and a new baby on the way is v stressful, and keeping your toddler’s routine is part of easing them into having a new sibling.

The govt & RCOG both state that older children attending nursery is fine, as long as social distancing is observed at pick up and drop off. Nurseries have social bubbles, and increased cleaning so they are as safe as can be.

Scaring a heavily pregnant mum with opinions rather than facts is not on.

Plus at 35 weeks OP is likely still working and in need of childcare. Hmm

We put DD back in nursery when hers reopened full-time less than a week before my section. Worked brilliantly for our family.

I didn't ask for opinions on my decision to send my daughter back to nursery @Redolent.

Thanks @MindyStClaire and @TeddyIsaHe 😊
