Dd (7) high temp

Where to start ...
Dd woke up unusually early for her, thought it was just the incredibly hot night. But throughout the day developed sneezing and a blocked nose, (thought her allergies), but later in the afternoon she unusually had a nap, woke up from nap and she was red hot to touch, slight higher temperature but not a fever, but complaining she is cold. Also later developed an intermittent cough!.

Have booked us all for a covid test Sunday morning to be safe than sorry, we are meant to be going away tomorrow morning! Just feel sick with worry for the holiday potentially lost and moreso from seeing my older mum, sister and kids outside on Friday morning and potentially passing it onto them.

My dp and I are both key workers and dp has been public facing throughout lockdown and me being public facing since June. So feels like a kick in the teeth, but hoping dd just has a summer holiday post school come down which is making her ill, rather than ...

I feel for you and your family as you say such a kick in the teeth. You met family outdoors so that’s a positive. There must be other viruses floating around that people normally get this time of year so hopefully test will come back negative BUT my understanding of the rules is that only person with symptoms should be tested, rest of you should isolate for 14 days regardless and only get a test IF you develop symptoms.

Regarding the holiday again my understanding is you shouldn’t be going regardless of test result. We’ve booked a holiday in UK and it states not to proceed if any party member has tested positive for/had close contact with a confirmed case OR had any symptoms in the last 14 days. This is relying on honesty from the holiday makers and if they are not will be responsible for increase in cases.

This was me 2 weeks ago - both children high temp (and runny noses) developed nasty coughs. Got them both tested and results came back negative less than 12h later - the worst bit was the drive in testing centre where we went I had to swob them which was not pleasant. I was tested too so had someone do me to give me advice for doing them. Good luck and hope the result is the same for you as it was for us. No point in feeling guilt just part of life at the moment

Her temperature has gone this morning, just checked on her. So fingers crossed tests will come back negative.

I had the same over a week ago. I had internal fever, very hot to the touch. Fatigue, dizziness, just generally feel like shit. I got tested when I developed symptoms and I tested negative. I recovered a couple of days later so it could well be something else. Fingers crossed your DD test comes back neg.

We had similar, got tested asap. Came back negative and we now have minor but very obvious colds.

You can definitely go on holiday if the test comes back negative and if you think she's well enough.

When it comes to Sept and coming back to school etc, even if you have symptoms, my understanding is that if you've had a negative test you can go back in, even before the 2 weeks isolation period is up.

I also think if the test result is negative, nobody else in the family needs to worry or stay in, surely. If they did develop symptoms, they'd be symptoms of the same thing your DD has.

We got our test results back at 6am the following day. So fingers crossed you could get away on Monday instead :)

Well that was traumatic for dd and us. She has AN and took a few attempts and tears.

Yea I've heard test results come back early in the morning the next day - they did say 24 to 72 hours but hoping for tomorrow morning.

Fingers crossed for negative results.

She is just sneezy today so hoping just a cold!
