Support Bubbles/Local Lockdown

Can someone with covid knowledge help as where I live, West Yorkshire, got shafted with the last minute sort of lockdown.

We were due to go over to my in laws today and I would class them as our bubble as we haven't seen anyone locally nor any family locally and they are the only people we've seen when lockdown was lifted. They live in Liverpool which isn't in the lockdown - do you think we could still go given they are our bubble? No households are poorly - in-laws had covid back in April but are well and were tested June to confirm they no longer have it.

Rules say bubbles are allowed but everything I've came across is mixed messages around the bubbles such as for single parents or vulnerable people or one other household. Unless I'm missing something, there's no clear definition of a bubble. It says there is no distance for a support bubble you can travel wherever for it.

Our household is me, DP and DSD. We've been seeing them one afternoon a fortnight which has done us all a world of good. In-laws is just them and FIL has mobility issues following a back injury so when we've been going over, we've been helping sort the house and do the odd jobs needing to help whilst they spend time with DSD.

Just to add DP called 101 for advise and the advisor has confirmed they are awaiting clear confirmation as they aren't apparently sure either. They said the police are reluctant to fine and they've been advised to issue a warning for the first instance and confirmed he would say we are in a bubble with in-laws but not sure if the bubble definition is due to change with the local restrictions. Also confirmed you can travel however far for a bubble.

I am thinking we go and if we do get a £50 fine so be it.

BBC news said yesterday there were no travel restrictions in place and you could travel from within the lockdown area out of it to see people. They said it only applies to families within the area mixing with each other.
Obviously the guidance changes every two minutes at the moment but they were clear on that yesterday.

A bubble has to have one single adult in one of the groups. Nobody is going to fine you for visiting a family with two adults instead, despite it technically not being a bubble. Given the high infection rates, if you work outside the home or DSD goes to nursery then it isn't a good idea because of the risk, so consider your own circumstances. This is your local guidance page:

Shafted? Seriously?

You’d rather the Government ignored the increase in infections?

ThatDamnScientist · 01/08/2020 10:04

Yes so be it if you break the rules, what does it matter....maybe others are doing the same....in fact fuck the lockdown rules, you get a fine meh...what harm can it all do....Hmm

You are not a support bubble (your circumstances do not fit), you were people meeting in each others household which I believe was allowed with social distancing....the rules have changed to bring the local spike down....you choose to break the rules that's on your head but you surely can't expect people to coo at you and go "no dear, the rules don't apply to you, crack on" Hmm

Ah sorry, the link @MRex posted contradicts what I said. The BBC were absolutely categorical about it yesterday (I remember because I remember being surprised by it). Not sure if they got it wrong or if they said it before the guidance was confirmed.

Thanks for the page and advice.

@itsaratrap shafted was probably the wrong word to use but given the very last minute announcement it's my personal perception. Where I live has not had any infections as we are a very small countryside village which is on the boarder of two towns. Our postcode is for the one area, which isn't affected and our council tax is for an affected area but it's some 15 miles from my doorstep. One end of my lane has welcome you X and the other end is welcome to Y all within in 0.2 miles. It's not about not ignoring the government to then increase infection at all. It's about trying to understand how these last minute, constantly changing and contradictory guidelines affect my family going forward.

no as neither your household or your PIL household are a single person household you aren’t allowed a bubble and so the bubble system doesn’t apply to you. In the new lockdown areas you can’t meet another household inside or in gardens so you can’t go see them. Please stick to the rules so we can all get out of this lockdown faster!
