How are you being 'safe' with masks?

I can't seem to hit on a super safe way for us as a family.

I'm a hospital worker so it's been drummed into us: hand wash, mask on, don't touch / move mask, take off once covid secure and put in proper bin, wash hands and repeat. Anything less than this could case greater contamination.

I see the opposite of this when out and about!

I end up with various plastic bags shoved everywhere with clean and dirty masks and my husband is one for 'keeping one in the car' and doesn't really see the need in them washing 🙄. Son is autistic so can't manage wearing them but wants to try and it's on / off every few seconds.

Masks are being seen as the panacea of the virus spreading and will be everywhere soon I think so I need a really good system in place - what are your tips and tricks for being sanitary with masks?

@Couchbettato Have you tried one with a mouldable nose wire through the top seam?

I've got pleated cotton ones that fan out to tuck under my chin with a nose wire and adjustable ear elastics. Once on they don't ride up at all.

The whole thing is farcical.
I had a lady gleefully telling me that she was saving lots of money by reusing her disposable mask as much as possible until it went tatty.

I doubt she's the only one...

In the outdoor shopping centre this week, people had their masks off before they were out of the shop, then they were on their chin, their wrist, pocket etc. Then on for the next shop and walking straight past the hand sanitizer having just contaminated their hands with their soggy mask.
There's a very slim chance of coming across someone with it. Like 1 in thousands now, but I makes me feel less safe the way masks are being used.

I just take one out with me for the day. Today I popped it on for buying an ice cream in the ice cream shop. Took it off, put in bag. Then on the way home I needed some bits from coop so I put the mask on again. Will probably put that one in my next wash.

Public health England are running this on social media

How are you being 'safe' with masks?

@pontypridd

why isn't there a public health campaign to teach good hygiene with masks?

Good question! Why isn’t there?

Same reason the guidelines were vague and could be interpreted in a few ways.

So the public can be blamed if the numbers go up.
