I know this is for everyone but my mental health is really taking a dip especially now after the conference .... is this ever going to end

It will end. It will definitely end, we just don't know when.
What aspects are affecting your mental health or is it the whole thing of being in a pandemic?

Pasghetti · 31/07/2020 13:16

It will end but the sooner we accept distancing and mask wearing the sooner it will end. It is magical thinking and a hankering to return to normal life RIGHT NOW which is now driving this resurgence, especially amongst young people.

Things will be different for a while. It's ok to find that stressful and depressing as long as you shake yourself off and keep going.

This.

Things are shite but think how much better they are since March. We’ll get there. Society just cannot operate like this longer term

Grottyfeet · 31/07/2020 13:46

I was happy enough during full lockdown but I'm finding this changing position, having things given then taken away and no real clarity over the rules or expected behaviour really difficult. It was easier when we just knew we couldn't do anything than trying make plans knowing they'll likely change.

lockdownalli · 31/07/2020 13:47

Yes it will end, but not for a while yet.

I have tried to retain as much sanity as I can by telling myself it will be early summer 2021 before things are whatever the new normal will look like. Obviously I could be far too optimistic in thinking this, only time will tell, but it has given me a long term outlook that has been really helpful for me.

Friends/colleagues who appear to be suffering the most are those who keep imagining it will all be OK in a few weeks. Flowers

We are halfway through our second lockdown (Melbourne).

It's tough, but I'm focusing on a good outcome.

I think our lockdown will be extended too. It's 6 weeks but I think they'll add another 4 weeks.

Will any business survive another lockdown ?

I totally get you op. In an area that was locked down again yesterday.
All our plans for the weekend gone. It’s so hard to keep dealing with this and trying to remain upbeat.

How is Melbourne surviving another lockdown ?

stayathomer · 31/07/2020 18:40

Lying in bed, not feeling great, waiting for a covid test tomorrow. I totally believe it will end, it's just been the longest few months ever. We'll get thereFlowersCake

Personally I think we have to adjust to a new way of living.

I'm taking positivity from upside of less pollution re:travel.

It's obviously been hard but there are some good things to come out of this.

The focus on our families, how wonderful the NHS is and perhaps a slower pace of life with less "bling".

Tbh I don't want to go back to "before".

I hope we learn some lessons about what really matters Thanks

That is far from my experience of lockdown. I don’t think many of us who’ve been WFH with children have seen much of this ‘slower pace of life’ - I feel like I’ve been on a treadmill running at top speed since March.

well hmmm ... I am an NHS clinican. My job is now horendous beyond all recognition. On top of full time work , working extra long hours I have hardly any energy left to give my family - despite really needing to becuase my dc are struggling with being home for months.....I am exhausted beyond recognition and just about done tbh!! Certainly not a lovely slow paced family focused few months for me!!
Oly4 · 31/07/2020 20:26

It will end and significantly quicker if we all follow the rules. We have to accept last minute Govt decisions to control the virus. This is how it is. It’s tough, especially if you are suffering with mental health issues, but we have to keep going. Take care

I’m with @GoldenOmber on this.

I’ve hated the last 4 months. 2 primary school age dc at home, 2 adults at home. Widowed dm 250 miles away. Things were getting better, but I live in Kirklees....

I don't think this is true. It should certainly make the consequences less awful but I don't think it gets it over quicker, if anything, it extends it.
