Buddy the dog with Covid

Has anyone seen the case of the dog in the US who apparently tested positive for Coronavirus.? If there's already a thread, apologies, I couldn't find one.

It all seems a bit odd - it hasn't been picked up by the mainstream media as far as I can see, the owners were apparently convinced he had Covid, they went to numerous vets and found one who tested him positive - later tests were negative but apparently he had antibodies.

Just wondering, as my mum's friend (who is forcasting the end of the world it seems Hmm) is telling her that family pets will kill her and I'd like an evidence based rebuttal.

Virus appears to be very adept at jumping species barriers... I'm glad I don't have any pets!

Its not really surprising. Its a zoonotic disease.

There was a BBC article the other day about a cat who had tested positive

Sorry I didn't come back, I forgot about this.

I suspect from the lack of responses detailing loads of people catching Covid from the family hamster, I can presume the chances of my mum catching it from the family dog are minuscule. Now to try and convince her friend [sigh]

I think your mum is far more likely to give her dog COVID than catch it from them. But if she's really worried can she not just keep it on a leash when she walks it and not let it near other people?
